President Bush and First Lady, Laura left California yesterday, and arrived at Tokyos Haneda airport (at around 3:00 am, Pacific time), where they were greeted by U.S. Ambassador Howard Baker. The President met with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi for talks on subjects such as international trade and the reconstruction of Iraq. The President and First Lady were dinner guests at the Akasaka State Guest House, where they dined on Japanese steak and Yakatori chicken, sitting on the floor, but were allowed to dangle their legs through a hole in the floor!
Japan is only the first stop in a whirlwind 9 day tour of 6 Asian countries and Australia, and including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday. There are LOTS of pictures, many of which could have been selected as the best, (and which I have tried to assemble in some sort of orderly fashion), so enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

I don't understand that theory about the wet weather either .... but we did see a fair number of trees whose leaves seemed to have just turned brown and fallen off. We weren't sure if it was the effect of the wet weather or simply the variety of the trees. In other places the color was spectacular even though it was really a week or two early for the peak of the season.

That surprises me about the South Koreans ..... I would have thought they'd have their hands full watching their own back door. Maybe this is a token group of troops as a show of support for America and President Bush. At any rate, it's welcome .... and will probably sadden the 'rats even more .... hehe!

crap, crap, crap (or for those of you still talking cooking.. carp, carp, carp - but I think carp is a lousy eating fish, isn't it?)..... still cant sleep.
just quick check in... the drive thru the foothills in southern Ohio the past two days was gorgeous Kay. Saw the Hopewell Indian mounds & the serpent mound... one Fed & other State Park.
I love the NC/VA/ WVA mtns with the extra conifers.. always the green amidst the reds, oranges , yellows. Each fall we did the Blue ridge ride... sometimes on bikes.

Our weather has been whacky..
Torrential rain, then 40 degrees at night..
we lost the power a few nights ago, due to rain and heavy winds..we lost a lot of branches, but..
It didn't seem to matter to the trees..they are just awesome..
Seems like they know what to do and when, just as Creator made them..

Does anyone know what Yakatori chicken is?
It appears to be a soy sauce-marinated chicken. I did a quick search on google and saw recipes for it with one served over pineapple rice and another (with chili arbol, garlic paste, and tequila, too) that's served over saffron rice.
According to m-w.com:
Main Entry: ya·ki·to·ri
Pronunciation: "yä-ki-'tor-E
Function: noun
Etymology: Japanese, grilled chicken, from yaki broil, roast + tori bird
Date: 1962
: bite-sized marinated pieces of beef, seafood, or chicken on skewers

I am definitely a Christian in favor of a COMMITTED marriage. But the Clintons are NOT committed to their marriage. Bill has REPEATEDLY broken his vows. I know many many women who have stayed in a relationship after infidelity, but the person(s) who broke the trust WORKED TO IMPROVE THE MARRIAGE and were WILLING TO CHANGE and did not break their vows again and again and again.
What I meant by 'giving women a bad name' is that many people look up to Bill and Hillary and seeing this happen, think it's OK to have a 'marriage' like they do. But it's not! I would not want my daughter to stay in a relationship where there is repeated infidelity. Christ didn't want that either; His idea of marriage is one man and one woman, faithful to each other, forever.
Thanks to all for their comments!

Sounds beautiful! We're having a pretty fall in NE, too. We just have three colors of leaves tho--green, yellow, and brown. But seeing the crops harvested, and all the pumpkins . . . I hope someday to see all the colors of the leaves in your part of the world.

He certainly looks intimidating, but we have it on the word of an expert that he stays there to guard AirForce 1.....not the President.
That still makes me feel better, though, since AF1 will be the President's and First Lady's 'hotel' while they're abroad, and it needs to be safe.
