A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH (photos): 10/17/03
Yahoo.com, Whitehouse.gov | 10/17/03 | ohioWfan

Posted on 10/17/2003 5:09:49 PM PDT by ohioWfan

President Bush and First Lady, Laura left California yesterday, and arrived at Tokyo’s Haneda airport (at around 3:00 am, Pacific time), where they were greeted by U.S. Ambassador Howard Baker. The President met with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi for talks on subjects such as international trade and the reconstruction of Iraq. The President and First Lady were dinner guests at the Akasaka State Guest House, where they dined on Japanese steak and Yakatori chicken, sitting on the floor, but were allowed to dangle their legs through a hole in the floor!

Japan is only the first stop in a whirlwind 9 day tour of 6 Asian countries and Australia, and including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday. There are LOTS of pictures, many of which could have been selected as the “best,” (and which I have tried to assemble in some sort of orderly fashion), so enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

We were in the Smokies last weekend (Gatlinburg to Boone) and were surprised at how much color we saw. It was a little early but we had a business trip that made the little detour for an extra day quite convenient. The 'experts' have all been saying that the wet weather would make for less color this year.

Many trees were still green and others were beginning to turn. We saw some spots with absolutely brilliant color though. Your trip should be really beautiful! That's gorgeous country around Charlottesville any time of the year and the fall foliage will be an extra special treat.

"The 'experts' have all been saying that the wet weather would make for less color this year."

That doesn't make sense to me...with all the wet weather, you'd think the trees would be that much more lush and then the leaves still have to turn red, yellow, and orange.

"Your trip should be really beautiful! That's gorgeous country around Charlottesville any time of the year and the fall foliage will be an extra special treat."

Yeah, we've had season tickets for years and mid-to-late October's usually the best fer scenery. I just hope this rain passes on through before tomorrow.

Sorry I didn't post the scripture and prayer list last night. I didn't get home from work until nearly 11:30 and was just soooooo tired ..... :-(

Proverbs 18

1 A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire;
        He rages against all wise judgment.

        2A fool has no delight in understanding,
        But in expressing his own heart.

        3When the wicked comes, contempt comes also;
        And with dishonor comes reproach.

        4The words of a man's mouth are deep waters;
        The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook.

        5It is not good to show partiality to the wicked,
        Or to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

        6A fool's lips enter into contention,
        And his mouth calls for blows.
        7A fool's mouth is his destruction,
        And his lips are the snare of his soul.
        8The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles,
        And they go down into the inmost body.

        9He who is slothful in his work
        Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.

        10The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
        The righteous run to it and are safe.
        11The rich man's wealth is his strong city,
        And like a high wall in his own esteem.

        12Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty,
        And before honor is humility.

        13He who answers a matter before he hears it,
        It is folly and shame to him.

        14The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness,
        But who can bear a broken spirit?

        15The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge,
        And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

        16A man's gift makes room for him,
        And brings him before great men.

        17The first one to plead his cause seems right,
        Until his neighbor comes and examines him.

        18Casting lots causes contentions to cease,
        And keeps the mighty apart.

        19A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city,
        And contentions are like the bars of a castle.

        20A man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;
        From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.

        21Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
        And those who love it will eat its fruit.

        22He who finds a wife finds a good thing,
        And obtains favor from the LORD.

        23The poor man uses entreaties,
        But the rich answers roughly.

        24A man who has friends must himself be friendly,
        But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
