Germans lap up claim that US plotted Sept 11
By Kate Connolly in Bonn
(Filed: 17/10/2003)
A former cabinet minister is drawing huge crowds and stoking the fires of anti-Americanism in Germany with a book arguing that the US government mounted the Sept 11 attacks as part of a plot to win global domination.
Andreas von Bülow has gone even further than Michael Meacher, Britain's former environment minister, who claims the US knowingly failed to prevent the attacks.
Von Bülow, 66, believes that Sept 11 was staged to justify the subsequent wars on Afghanistan and Iraq.
"If what I say is right, the whole US government should end up behind bars," he says.
The German government has made no official response to the book, although ministers have tried to distance themselves from his views.
But von Bülow's ideas are very popular and polls show a fifth of Germans believe Washington ordered the attacks.
The CIA and September 11, written mainly from internet research, is a besteller, with sales of more than 100,000.

Whenever someone starts in to the "It's all about oil" I always politely point out that Mexico has almost as much oil, would be easier to take over, easier to run and a whole lot closer.
Plus they have nice beaches and a few other goodies. So why didn't we invade Mexico?

And this isn't just a translation of the French bestseller l'Effroyable Imposture by Thierry Meyssan! I guess each country needs their own conspiracy theorist.

When one compares a group to the Democrats, you can be assured that you are comparing two losers. That's a fact. Europe has its losers- America has its own. Not really news is it?

Herr blam
You insinuate that the people who staged so many attacks during its history would know better than to assume that others are like them?
hehe, I do declare that these Germans are absolute fools.

"So why didn't we invade Mexico?"
I think you're onto something. They're invading us daily, so why not give the north-bound illegals a surprise -- like ten divisions of Marines passing them, going the other way.

You would have to live over there for awhile to understand. The upper class are too arrogant and superior for those words to even give a clear picture of them. The lower class are easily led. All have been bred (for centuries) to bow to authority and to expect the govt. to take care of them.
Their leaders give out such scurrilous tripe as this to keep them corraled, and their mind on the bogey man instead of what is happening in their country and Europe. Something like the main media over here give out.
After all, these people went from Frederich der Grosse down to a pathetic attempt at democracy, and then gave it all up for the little nonentity with the toothbrush moustache and the huge ego. I believe it was a lot like those who slavishly and sheepishly follow the Clintons.
This does not, of course, obtain for all Germans, but unfortunately
the shoe fits for too many. Let those who have ears hear and those capable of analysis connect the dots.

So many folks are so emotionally invested in the USA being almost god-like in control of everything, including their poverty(Middle East, Asia), their economy(Europe) that they cannot fathom the USA being vulnerable. Hence, any attack on the USA must have come from within. We are a victim of our own sucess as far as they are concerned. Toss in an unaturally healthy version of Anti-semitism and you get 20% of Germans that think Bush ordered the attacks. That Bush Lied.
What did he know, when did he know it! It wasn't a plane that hit the Pentagon(disproved), It wasn't a plane that hit the first tower(disproved), the towers were imploded(ludicrous top down implosion debunked) on and on. One need only visit some rather high traffic sites on the net to see this live and festering. It's sickening. They aren't so much "anti-Bush" as they are CIA conspiricists or whatever.
Gag me. I could give you links to sites where this runs rampent.
Too bad there isn't control to the level these nutcases suggest. If there were, Wahhabists would be in the closet and main street USA wouldn't be at risk to some ***kwit willing to blow himself up in the name of Allah.

I don't know why they complain that they think we are anti-European when they have these insane attitudes toward us. I also don't know why on earth we would want the cooperation of these @ssholes on anything, least of all Iraq.
To: blam
What is wrong with these people? Their economy sucks so they figure to start another war and we'll kick their butts then come back in and rebuild them again.

Yes, it is true. You can tell it just from the economics. The cost of 911 is in the billions, the cost of warring with afghanistan and iraq in more billions. The cost of establishing further peace in these countries is MORE BILLIONS.
The take from the oil over there is going to be less than a few million.
Yup.. We did it for the bux! Haliburton is grinning!

"If what I say is right, the whole US government should end up behind bars," he says. Rest assured he is wrong, but we will never be able to pull his Nazi head out of his ass.
I think it's natural, for folks on the wrong side of an issue - or too cowardly to get on the right side, to invent a "cover story" to excuse or cover their cowardness.

Heck, what about Germany?"Well I was trying to think 'bigger' (I didn't mention France either);-)

Bull.
If the terrorists had targeted Berlin, various governments of the Middle East and their political bases would have lain in ruins long before our "kindler, gentler invasion of Iraq," in addition to Germany becoming the manager for the export of a big chunk of the world's current oil "out sourcing."
The Germans would still be building up their military, and in addition, THEY WOULD BE PURCHASING AIRCRAFT FOR MILITARY TRANSPORT on a scale that President Bush should have set on Sept. 12, 2001.

What is wrong with these people? It's genetic...they followed Hitler also. After the WWII, Germans were reeducated to be distrustful of nationalist governments and see terrorist attacks in light of the Reichstag fire. They see Hitler under every bed and are afraid to follow.
