Well, both the Sox and Yanks leave runners stranded in the first.

Pedro puts man on base on five pitches. Now has Jeter up with runner on first with one out. Throwing about 89mph - about 5mph over his norm. Forces Jeter into foul popout that is easily handled by Millar off first base.

Two out. Base hit. Runners on first and second. Pedro has himself in a jam already. Thousands of televisions clicking off in anger and frustration around the Bay State. Pedro runs count to 2-1 on next batter...throws a strike down the middle...2-2 the count...Throws ball three and Yankee starts to first base as though it was ball four. Nice try. Lazy popup to center field and Pedro is out of the jam. People all across New England are breathing again. Water pressure is dropping as everybody hits the bathroom at the same time.

He must have been hanging around with Manny (who did the same thing, only it was while he was in left field, earlier in the season).

He's no dumbass. But he's more nervous than we are, that's for sure. Nice to see the change in demeanor for this game. Top of 2nd, no score.

Correction: not the same thing, but a similar mental error -- he thought there were three outs, when there were only two.

Notice as Pedro was walking down to the dugout:
The mike picked up a NyY fan shouting insults
Pedro turned, and spit.
