DA hasn't shown everything

District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said the prosecution did not lay out its entire case during Kobe Bryant's preliminary hearing and had no intention to do so.

The preliminary hearing is to determine only whether probable cause exists and that Bryant's case should be sent along to trial.

"Probable cause is a low standard and no prosecutor puts on an entire case in a preliminary hearing," Hurlbert said to reporters after the preliminary hearing ended Wednesday afternoon. "What you saw was a sanitized version of the evidence."

With a nod to the court of public opinion and the media, Hurlbert said that's not his most important audience.

"My intention was never to try this case in the media," said Hurlbert. "My intention was to try this case before an Eagle County jury of 12.

"I am confident the judge will bind it over, and I'm confident in the people's case versus Kobe Bean Bryant."

Hurlbert said he spoke to the victim and her family, and she's "doing OK."

Eagle County Sheriff's Detective Doug Winters told reporters he thinks the Sheriff's Office investigation was thorough.

"When you investigate cases like this, you ask the pertinent questions - who, what, when, where, why and how," said Winters. "I feel that we asked and answered those questions."

Denver defense attorney Craig Silverman remains unconvinced.

"I don't think the case should have been filed," said Silverman. "I spent 16 years as a prosecutor, and this is not an easy road for her, nor for the people who had sex with her. They know who they are, and they will be called to testify."

"The prosecution would do Mr. Bryant and the alleged victim a favor by dismissing this case at this point."

Victoria Ricke, who was rolling through from Iowa when she and a friend stopped to take in the spectacle, said Bryant could have solved most of his own problems, even after his admitted adultery.

"Mr. Bryant's T-shirt is a little like Bill Clinton's blue dress, she said. "Clinton should have gotten rid of that blue dress, and Mr. Bryant should have gotten rid of that T-shirt."

And which way does she see it going?

"For now, I have to lean a little bit toward him having done it," she said. "We'll see once the trial starts and she has to testify."

That is the difference. I condemn Bill Clinton and Kobe Bryant for sexual assault (rape). The only significant difference between the two is Kobe will actually stand trial for his rape.

Well, there's a mountain of evidence from many sources to suggest that, indeed, Bill Clinton, has committed sexual assault. Kobe, on the other hand, has been accused by ONE person, and that person is of VERY questionable character. HUGE difference. Yes, Kobe will stand trial, and hopefully the truth will triumph.

Now, then, one simple question for you. DOES KOBE BRYANT DESERVE A FAIR TRIAL? YES OR NO?

He continually shills for Kobe Bryant. Those who care about rape victims abhor his comments.

The accuser is not a "victim" until she proves she was actually raped.

I don't care one whit about Kobe Bryant. But I DO care about a man who seems to be getting railroaded by a woman who can't seem to say no.

Certainly

He deserves a fair trial and a fast hanging.

There is another perp who needs your support. Michael Jackson is being arrested for child molestation.

You say the world is getting rid of her demons I say "Baby what have you been smoking?"

You just don't know when to stop do you? I don't "support" any perps, only fairness and justice. You should give it a try sometime. If the evidence exists to arrest Michael Jackson, then he should absolutely be brought in and put on trial. If after a fair trial he's proven guilty, then lock him up and throw away the key. Same for Kobe.

Having said that, you are making the same mistake with Jackson as you did Clinton. Somehow you twist it so if Clinton was lying about raping Juanita, then of course Kobe is lying. Evidently you know want to say if Jackson is lying, so is Kobe. I will once again point out to you the HUGE problem with your illogical argument. BOTH Jackson and Clinton have had numerous people accuse them of sexual abuse. It is nothing new for them; however, NOBODY has made ANY previous accusations against Kobe. Evidently, though, you just want to immediately hang anyone accused of sexual assault. It's a good thing the American justice system isn't based upon your warped idea of "fairness".

By the way, it now appears that Kobe's accuser was banging the prosecution's KEY WITNESS about ONE WEEK before her encounter with Kobe. ROFL. I'm sure that makes her and the witness even more credible in your eyes, somehow. LOL. Whatever. It's beginning to look like she would bend over for any guy out there, including a dorky-looking minimum-wage paid bell hop, but have sex with Kobe Bryant? *GASP!* She would have to be FORCED to do that! Riiiiiiiiiight. Keep dreamin'.

You are quite passionate about attacking Kobe Bryant's victim. Michael needs you to do the same on his behalf.

LOL. Sorry, I'm just reporting the news. Yes, it's time to shoot this messenger, since you don't like my message. If I tell you something that casts doubt about the credibility of the prosecution's case that is somehow "attacking the victim". No, Michael Jackson doesn't need me to do anything on his behalf, nor have I any interest to. ONCE AGAIN, Kobe does not have a history of sexually assaulting people, while Jackson and Clinton do. Can you see the difference yet? Can you? Just concentrate really hard and it'll eventually come to you.

In the meantime, how about we stick to the subject of Kobe Bryant? Is your attack on him so weak and pathetic that you have to bring in Michael Jackson and Bill Clinton to strengthen your "case"? I don't know what happened in that room AND NEITHER DO YOU. You said the case should be based solely on the testimony of witnesses, not about the "victim's" credibility. WELL, WHAT DO YOU SAY WHEN THE SUPPOSED VICTIM IS HAVING SEX WITH THE KEY WITNESS??? HUH??? I suppose it would also be OK if she's having sex with the judge and all the jurors, too, right?

You are inconsequential. You are the chattering fan cheering his star. The only problem is the star is a perp.

Uh - I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm not the one pronouncing guilt on people before they have been tried. Are you also in favor of doing away with trials?

No, YOU are the one who thinks he knows it all, and that's my entire point. I'm willing to give Kobe his day in court. You are not, since you already "know" that he is guilty. Your reasoning is devoid of any logic whatsoever. What connection does Kobe Bryant have with any of those other people than the fact that he has been accused of a crime? Using your logic you are guilty of anything somebody accuses you of, simply because other people have been accused of similar crimes. You can name 10,000 people that have been accused and/or convicted of rape if you want, but that has nothing to do Kobe whatsoever. Your constant referring to Clinton and others is typical of someone who has a weak argument and can't deal with the actual facts and details of what really matters - what happened with Kobe and this girl.

I do not believe a court of law is equivalent to a court of public opinion. If I did then I would believe that OJ Simpson did not murder Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. You gave him his day in court. I know he murdered them.

I do not believe a court of law is equivalent to a court of public opinion. If I did then I would believe that OJ Simpson did not murder Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. You gave him his day in court. I know he murdered them. Thank you! Thank you for THREE softballs that I will now hit out of the park for back-to-back-to-back grand slams. First of all, OJ indeed had his trial. The entire trial, from beginning to end was televised live for the world to see. Everyone who cared, knew the case and evidence against him. You had a chance to hear the prosecution's case and the defense. After hearing the case and all of the evidence one could easily come to a different conclusion than the criminal trial jury did. Now then, Kobe has NOT had his day in court, has he? No, the trial has not started and you know little of the evidence or testimony against or for him. This is why I haven't pre-judged the case. I'm waiting to see the entire case against him and his defense. Again, OJ had his day in court, Kobe hasn't yet. HOME RUN #1.

Secondly, OJ had TWO trials, remember? He wasn't convicted in the criminal trial, but he WAS in the civil trial, remember? So, your argument collapses ONCE AGAIN, since OJ WAS FOUND GUILTY by a court. HOME RUN #2.

Finally, ONCE AGAIN, you are completely unable to form an argument agaisnt Kobe without spouting off about Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, or OJ Simpson. THESE PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH KOBE WHATSOEVER. Their guilt or innocense HAVE NO RELATION to Kobe's guilt or innocense. Is that really so difficult of a concept for you to grasp? Do you think the prosecution should tell the Kobe jury "Ladies and gentlemen, we 'know' Bill Clinton was lying. We 'know' Michael Jackson was lying. We 'know' OJ Simpson was lying. This, of course, means that Kobe Bryant is lying. Don't bother examining the facts of this case, or worry about the trustworthiness of the accuser, or listen to any witnesses in this trial, because Kobe is a liar and that's all you need to know. If these other people were lying, then so is Kobe. Convict. Thank you." LOL Yeah, right. HOME RUN #3. Game over.
