N.Y. Times Columnist: Fox News Is Bush's Al Jazeera

Premier New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman attacked the Fox News Channel on Thursday, comparing the top-rated cable news network to the pro-terrorist Al Jazeera broadcasting company. Using a recent speech by Vice President Dick Cheney to argue that the Bush administration is too narrow-minded in its handling of postwar Iraq, Friedman complained, "Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein issue messages from their caves through Al Jazeera, and Mr. Cheney issues messages from his bunker through Fox."
"Out of fairness, my newspaper feels obligated [to cover the Cheney speech]," the top Times columnist wrote. "But I wish we would have said to the V.P.: If you're going to give a major speech on Iraq to an audience that's limited to your own supporters and not allow any questions, that's not news."
Friedman's suggestion that Fox News is the White House's Al Jazeera network is particularly odd, since Fox broke the story that nearly cost President Bush the 2000 election - the notorious 1976 DUI episode.
Fox's owner, NewsCorp Chairman Rupert Murdoch, supported Al Gore in the 2000 election and contributed $50,000 to the Gore campaign.
Friedman's slap at Fox's credibility comes despite that fact that earlier this year, his paper admitted to publishing stories by a journalist known to have repeatedly fabricated previous reports for the Times.

"If you're going to give a major speech on Iraq to an audience that's limited to your own supporters and not allow any questions, that's not news." But if bin Laden issues a grainy video, IT'S BIG-TIME FRONT PAGE NEWS at NYT, isn't it Thomas?

"If you ever saw CNN International you would get the impression that the version of CNN you see in the United States was an arm of the Republican Party!!!" I can attest that this is absolutely correct. CNN International is flamingly anti-American. They've helped incite a lot of hatred by their bogus "news."
CNN lies. CNN International lies and lies some more.

Actually, that's a great idea. Americans understand "listening tours"!

But remember, that's why Hillary never answered any questions, period, by saying she was on a "listening tour."
And nobody at the NYT said a damn word about it.

I don't know where they get the idea that Fox is all for Bush! They have just as many, if not more lefties on their shows as the others do. In fact, I have to turn this off often! Just more lies.

" This Friedman rant is a good sign."
Yes, his ship is taking on water.

For goodness sakes, airbrush that thing next time. You nearly put my eyes out.

My sweetiepie bought me SLANDER, I can only read it half a chapter at a time and never after a meal. Don't get me wrong I love her and love her writing. I don't get much exposure the the bilge that is "mainstream", I don't want to be turned into a bulemic inadvertently.
I turned off network news in 1982, I haven't been propagandized in a very long time. I canceled my subscription to the local Communist Rag about 10 years ago. When I get the subscription calls from them I always enjoy telling them I refuse to subsidize their socialist trash. It would probably be much easier to tell them to put me on the do not call list but then I would be depriving myself of the pleasure of baiting a liberal once a week.

Attacks on Fox are directly proportional to Fox's growing popularity. You bet, Friedman's problem is he can see the future and he is desperatly trying to change it.
To: austingirl
How much space in the New York Times is dedicated to conservative positions compared to the time Fox gives to liberal positions? This isn't the pot calling the kettle black, it's the pot calling the pure as driven snow, black.

What nerve! The NYT are prissy soldiers for Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Al-Quaeda and every other dictator & terrorist.
About a month ago someone from CNN said the FOX News Channel were foot soldiers for Bush. FOX replied to CNN that they had rather be foot soldiers for Bush than foot soldiers for Al-Qaeda!! SLAM......

The New York Times, La Times, NBC, CBS, ABC and CNN with MSNBC (mostly), are the DNC's hitlerian propagandists. And they are meeting the anger of the American people right as I type this. Oh but the TRUTH HURTS!
You know what has happened over the past decade that hurts these mainstream slimeballs in the media?
Answer: The Internet... Talk Radio... Cable alternatives like Fox News... in a word: CHOICE. People are voting with their eyeballs and their time: and they are voting against the mainstream-liberal-slanted-media. They're talking back via the internet: no more spoon-fed-and-go-to-bed media consumers we.
For basically all of history, there have been elites who have controlled information and influenced public opinion WAY in excess of what should have been the case. Now people have CHOICES and the cr*p has hit the NY-SLIMES fan. The Genie is out of the bottle and it ain't going back in!

The fact that their 'hyperbole' looks more like 'parabole' these days means that the Left must be sensing that they are in a corner and about to get devoured.
I mean really, what's next? Beyond producing a picture of BW with 3 sixes tatooed on his scalp, what more can they say? Oops! Wait! They tried that one with Ronald Wilson Reagan. And Bush-son-of-Satan wouldn't scare the Left nearly as much as Bush-servant-of-God.
Perhaps the LA Times could manufacture a story about how GW is actually an Alien nucular death robot from Planet Nine manufactured of asbestos and lead by fascists Meelocks intent on taking over the Earth in the name of their chauvinistic nationalist Emporer Gog to harvest the Planet of trees and shrubs, and the entire population of endangered red-crested pigmy speckled marsh voles (all 7).
Or maybe the NYT will just put a 'Jason' Mask on him.
I agree with you, Blue Scourge, Blah-blah-blah. The Left has NOTHING left to say.
