Liberals are revealing their true colors yet again in the happy dance they are doing over Rush Limbaughs admission that he is addicted to prescription painkillers and his trip to rehab. With a few notable exceptions, such as liberal commentator and radio talk show host Alan Colmes of Fox Newss Hannity and Colmes, the self-proclaimed Party of Compassion is gleeful over the problem that Limbaugh is experiencing.
Liberal mean-spiritedness has shown up in many ways of late, including the scuttling of Miguel Estrada, demands to impeach President Bush for his military policy, their fervent scandal-mongering in the Joseph Wilson affair, and many other egregious examples. But because Rush Limbaugh is such a prominent and enduring spokesman for conservatism, they seem to be taking special glee in Rushs troubles.
Senator John Kerry, one of the Party of Compassions Presidential wannabes, made an insensitive joke about Limbaughs problem in the recent Presidential debate. There are two ways you can have lower prescription drug prices, Kerry said. One is to hire Rush Limbaughs maid. The other is to elect me President. Fellow radio personality Don Imus, a former cocaine addict and alcoholic, warm-heartedly called Limbaugh a fat, pill-popping loser and an undisciplined slob. The ever-so-tolerant left-wing comedian Al Franken, who previously wrote a book attacking Limbaugh, called him a dishonest demagogue. CNN anchor Aaron Brown boasted of the permanent smirk that seems to be attached to my face due to Limbaughs problems. Such displays of liberal compassion bring tears to my eyes.
And it is not just liberal commentators and political leaders who are throwing parties over Limbaughs situation. Their followers are being even more cruel. At the liberal website Democratic Underground, one poster wrote, "I pray your rehab is excrutiatingly painful... and unsuccessful.". Another wrote, He doesn't deserve sympathy from any of us. Yet another wrote that Limbaughs problems make me very happy. Others have written similarly tolerant messages.
If conservatives were to say these things about a prominent liberal, liberals would be rightly outraged and they would be screaming as loudly as they can that conservatives have once again been proven to be hard-hearted people with no compassion for others. Well, I would advise them to look in the mirror.
Lets suppose that something like this happened to Bill or Hillary Clinton, for example. No one has been more disgusted with the policies and the conduct of the Clintons over the years than I have. But they are still fellow children of God who deserve our prayers and our compassion, even as we work overtime to defeat them in the political arena. There are certain things that decent people dont want to see happen even to their worst enemies. So why the celebrations in liberal America?
Rush Limbaugh has said he is not a hero and he is not a victim. He has taken personal responsibility for his problem, as he rightly should, even though it stems from a prescription for medication prescribed for post-surgical pain. Why cant the self-proclaimed Party of Compassion find any compassion in their hearts for a fellow human being in his time of suffering? Are they so blinded by ideology and power that they cannot see what they are doing?
Perhaps these liberals need to find a rehab facility where they can regain their compassion, as Rush Limbaugh is regaining his freedom from dependency.
See, to liberals, apparently, it's hate speech to take them to task for their insensitivity but it's compassionate to celebrate Rush's problem.
Hey people, you would do the same to one of them
I can only speak for myself, but no, I wouldn't. I contacted Wellstone's office after his death, for example, to express sympathy, and (as one of the first people who spotted the signs using Wellstone's name less than 24 hours after his death and trying to blame conservatives for it) I denounced the lack of compassion shown by the left in politicizing Wellstone's death -- and I am one of the people who sent it to Rush, Sean, and others. That deeply offended me, even though I disagreed with virtually everything that Wellstone ever said. I wanted him out of office, but I didn't want him to die like that.
Why can't liberals manage even the slightest degree of that kind of compassion for Rush Limbaugh? Tey're the ones who are always lecturing the rest of us about compassion, after all. Where is theirs?
Oh, that's right. Liberals don't hav any.

Exactly.
Rush gives the Liberals truth, and they THINK its hell.
Let them hate us, I dont care. We should follow Bush in saying "bring it on". Which is what I expect to hear from Rush when he returns.
Rush would never be whining about those 'mean and hateful' Liberals. What are we, a bunch of wimps?
Bring it on, you stupid Liberals. I got somethin' for you.
Nope. They are pointing out that all the while Rush was railing against druggies and pushers he was actually doing the same things himself.

Bad. Really bad. But can you honestly say that some conservatives wouldn't say the same thing on a message board like this? It's just one or two anonymous posters on one message board. Were there any other responses saying that these posters were extreme and out of line?

You're kidding... right? You never read any glee from Republicans about the blue dress? You never read any comments to the effect that Hillary was so out for power that she would stick with Bill no matter how he disgraced their marriage?
Mrs. Clinton is not one of my favorite people, but I'm sure it took a lot for her to hold her head high. She did have a child to think about too, besides just herself. A lot of people can't see that.

I guess when someone has had nothing but mean to say about you it's hard to turn the other cheek. A deafening silence from the left would be nice, but it's asking a lot when Rush has gone after them so often. Besides, he never gives them the benefit of the doubt. He always accuses them of treachery, not stupidity.
So, Rush is a big boy. He is probably not aware of anything that's going on now. He is probably focusing on getting through the rehab. I think everyone would do well to just ignore the stuff coming from the left. Deafening silences work pretty well.
No surprise. For DU, that is really mild stuff. I've seen them dance for joy over the death of Barbara Olson
And when Saddams sons were killed, they all howled like banshees and made quite a number of unpatriotic sentiments. So much so, that the thread was pulled. A couple of excerpts :
Doesn't a part of you wish that Queasy and Duh-day were alive?
I'll admit they're scum and rightfully so, but anything that lands as even more humiliation on W's grotesque shrivelled face is that much the better.
It's sad, really, that as despicable as they are, Saddam's family seems to be the lesser of two evils when you compare them to the wretched little bastard* occupying the White House and destroying America in the process...
If the same happened to limbaugh, the left would be chartering busses to hit him a few more times to make sure.
That is how they show their compassion!
There is a difference between wanting to bring him and his wife down and wnating actual harm to come to them or celebrating when it does. I think all of us here (except for infiltrators) are glad that Boy Klintoon is no longer in our White House and would like to keep his wife out too. But that doesn't mean I'd wish them a drug p[roblem or STDs or any other such thing. Nor would I celebrate if this happens.
Liberals have no standards.
There is no perversion so low they cannot embrace it. There is no Dictator to brutal for them to embrace.
I think the zots are coming.
The really pathetic thing about liberals is the gotcha game. Rush has been on the air for what, twenty years? In all of those twenty years what IDEAS of his are faulty? What PRINCIPLES are flawed? What FACTS are incorrect? Cannot you even separate the idea from the man? No wonder no one respects liberals. Read my tag line. Feel my pity at your pathetic reasoning. It is one thing to be stupid. It is another to be proud of it and boast about it to others.
You really shouldn't worship mediocrity. Go learn basic logic. Read facts about the topics you wish to discuss. Talk about the ideas and leave the personalities out of it. You are discrediting nothing but your own position.
There's a difference between drugs used by thugs - coke, h, crank - and undocumented prescription drugs. Rush doesn't belong in a cell - a five million dollar fine and 5,000 hours community service driving a package delivery truck...
This thread is from 2003. Why did you pick now to post your ranting?
Liberals are always lecturing everyone else about being compassionate, yet when they find conservatives falling short -- as we all do -- the real face of liberalism -- HATRED -- shows up.
