I am a Mariners fan first and foremost. You know, from June 19 onward, they didn't even play .500 ball. I could see the writing on the wall by the end of July, knowing that unless something shook things up, they were going to be caught by both the A's and Red Sox.

John Piper used to teach at my college. I never had any courses from him, but knew a lot about him. Also, I used to work with 3 different people from his church when I was in China so got to listen to a lot of his sermon tapes. I love his books, but haven't read them all.
