Here is the point in their game thread where things started going downhill. They have some kind of filter that blacks out cuss words. It makes it even more funny. Here's my favorite post:
I cannot put up with this #### anymore. I'm running around my house screaming my head off over a #### baseball game. These guys are pieces of #### -- it was never more than a #### mirage. I hate that #### Pudge Rodrigues and that ducking Juan Pierre and the whole #### lot of them. Screw this #### team, screw this #### sport. Loser #### ####.
Kinda reminds me of the "Bambulance" recording-- the guy who hit the deer and called 911 in a fit of utter rage and bewilderment.
I'm laughing through my tears though. Go Cubs, please please PLEASE pull it off tomorrow....

Jezz Barnacle give the kid a break. He was just trapped up in the moment and it was a friggin foul ball for Christ Sake. Way too much is made of this. And how does that explain an 8-run Marlin inning? If some fan interference is all it takes to lose a series AT HOME then the Cubs were not meant to win anyway.
Do you NOW understand why Cub Fans, that have been around for awhile, are nervous every game no matter how great the Cubs lead?

Speaking as an Orioles fan rooting for the Cubs, here's my advice to Idiot Nonsavant:
Ask the cops to escort you home immediately. Throw all of your most important posessions that will fit into your car, as fast as you can (your home may be burned to the ground by morning). Drive south, as fast as legally possible (don't want to get pulled over and risk the cop's being a Cubs fan) for Florida. Have plastic surgery done; change your name, and buy a Marlins cap. :)

The odd thing is that I don't think the Cubs' karma goes south if Alou just turns and walks back to his position. It's another "what if", but I've been thinking the same thing for the past half hour while reading this thread.

Thanks for the link - that's too funny!!

I've never gotten over it. I was 14, listening to WGN 300 miles away in Cincinnati on a crappy radio with a fluctuating signal. I turned 9 in Sept. of 1969. The disappointment of that season scarred me for life ...... or it turned me into an eternal optomist, like most all Cubs fans are - they have to be ;-).

Joe Deer was a fake recording done late one night in a studio as a gag.

You forget three things:
- The Reds were the better team on paper by miles (4 alltime level players).
- They had leadership in Rose, Morgan, Perez, Bench.
- Even with those three things, the Red Sox were up 3-0 in the 7th of Game 7 the next when ANOTHER momentum shifter occurred: Bill Lee's eephus-doofus pitch to Tony Perez that was promptly deposited in the stands. Now it's 3-2 and now the Sox are sweating. The Reds won it in the 9th, 4-3.
Going the other direction: The Angels were up 3 games to 1 and were ONE OUT away from beating the Red Sox to go to the Series in 1986, and up 5-1 in that game. Don Baylor homers. NBD, 5-2. Two more men get on. Dave Henderson homers to tie it and sends the game into extras. Sox win (think Henderson hit the game-winner). The Angels totally fell apart in the final two games in Boston. They didn't have the managerial leadership (Gene Mauch, surely a good guy, but who didn't have the touch, and Reggie Jackson, who was a great player but NOT a leader by any stretch).
...Which of course led to what would ultimately be the Bill Buckner debacle in Game 6 of the series. Now it was the Sox turn to lose Game 7.
I ramble. I believe events WITHIN games are usually more important momentum shifters. But it's up to the manager and the team leadership to pick up a team. I seriously question whether the Cubs have it in either area. Sammy and Lofton, especially, really need to step up tomorrow, and lead.

Look at the expression of horror on the fan's face who is behind the goat-guy. Must be related to him, Ha!

He didn't actually catch the @*&$(^$% ball. Watch the replay - I'm sure you'll see it over and over and over and over........

The Cubs are only a few years away from taking away the all-time record for futility -- the Phillies didn't win a World Series until their 98th Season (and are working on a new streak of 23 since then).

Nobody can tell me that fan isn't reaching over the bar... The ump should have called fan interference, but that's his judgement.
Now we give the ball to Kerry Wood -- and get some positive thinking back into our heads.

We need NOW to look forward to winning and victory and shake off the feeling of losing and defeat.
