Even worse, if he is a nurse then he has no excuse when it comes to knowing how this works.

Alen Combs is about to double the scans on his new book. He said he was going to give one away to some lucky H&C viewer.

Are you serious? You and others here have this lovely view of how our Constitution is supposed to work. That is to say, like our Founding Fathers intended. Unfortunately, the judicial branch (a/ka/ the trial lawyers) has hi-jacked and continues to pervert our Constitutional set-up. I can't believe the people who post here who blame Jeb Bush for "allowing" the situation to continue!

I posted the excerpt from the news article about the 1990 Florida ruling, at post 100, to let people know what the ruling says.

A written living will is not required for removal of a feeding tube in Florida. A friend or relative can testify that the person did not want the tube.

I hope everyone knows I do not agree with what is happening to Terri.

When Terri's doctors were being sued, Mike Schiavo testified that he would provide therapy for Terri. Mike knew she was expected to live a long time. He did not mention her saying "No tubes for me."

Just saw Hannity with the video of Terri!! There is NO WAY that this woman does NOT know what is going on. I have a 25 year old handicapped son. I can TELL BY HER EYE CONTACT she is totally aware. If Jeb Bush doesn't at least stay the procedure and intervene, It will be as tragic as Elian Gonzales, even MORE SO!!! God HELP US when we KILL OUR OWN.

Can anyone guess which way Alan will be leaning?

Well, if he's a standard liberal, he thinks we have "the right to die" (euthanasia) but not the right to live (abortion.)

If her husband was doing this for money then he would have taken the family up on their offer. If he really believes she would not want a feeding tube I can see him wanting it out but why does he not want her to get therapy? The normal routine is to leave the tube in and starting reducing the feeding (so she gets hungry) and begin to teach her to eat. I try to think the best of people but is he afraid for her to get better?

I asked the waitress at the bbq place where we ate tonight to change the channel to Fox. I wanted to hear about Terri, and the bus crash today. Instead I watched a car chase. The evil SUV at it again. I just got home and guess what's on now? Scott Peterson!!!!!!!

The governor has filed a friend of the court brief, very well reasoned by the way, to try to stop this. It is an ugly situation, but the governor is doing all he can.

The governor HAs made public statements, and has directed the AG to file briefs on behalf of the State of Florida in defense of Terri.

I seem to have missed a part of this somehow....

What is the reason Terri's husband was able to sue and receive a judgment? I see where he got all that money but I don't see why.

This case truly disgusts me. Starvation and dehydration is against the law in every other possible situation. This simply can not be allowed to stand!

I wonder what would happen if they went in and just asked her if she wanted to die. I sure wouldn't want to be the person assigned to remove her feeding tube. In fact, I would flat refuse. I hope they can't find anyone who will do it! Her husband has a clear conflict of interest and should not be allowed to be her guardian. This whole situation makes me sick. If that were my daughter.....I just can't even imagine it! This is sick.

This case is most distressing. Sometimes when we feel that the powers of the State are against us, all we can do is pray. Miracles have been brought about thru fervent prayer.

Only the Lord knows what's within the husband's heart. He will be judged one day and if he's guilty in this matter, there WILL be repercussions for him.

Perhaps Terri's parents need to take this to the district attorney. I know there is a statute of limitations, but someone needs to research when that statute begins to run. It might be that it begins to run with discovery of a major fact, such as this one.

Animals aren't treated like that! But I disagree that it would only take 3 days. I think it could take much longer than that.

Maybe in a healthy adult. Kids, elderly and the ones that get sick easily hit the hardest. That's why some babies put in the hospital with v/d for iv therapy. Maybe it will be longer for her but that wasn't my point. Her kidneys will shut down and she will be in pain. If for nothing else the water should be given as a comfort measure. They will find someone who will but I wouldn't do it. I hope the nurses there bring the board of nursing and the Department of Health into this.
