Well, I don't reckon anybody'll ever be quite as Good to the Right as Der SchleekMeister, but with Slick in Prison fer the remainder of his days on this planet, the Right must endeavor to persevere to plant other DemonRAT stooges in Slick's stead if we are going to accomplish our goal of eliminating Socialism/Communism/Lib'ralism/Fascism/Progressivism/Totalitarianism as viable political ideologies for the 21st Century and beyond.
FReegards...MUD
Perhaps, although I believe what tipped it was a bunch of pissed-off folks who don't usually vote in midterm elections saying, "Enuff is ENUFF!!" and going to the polls and pulling the AnythingButDemonRAT lever!!
These voters ain't solid Pubbies, but they may never--EVER--vote fer another RAT!!

Sounds like yer on to somethin' there. Seems the turnout was extraordinarily heavy in many parts of the country for a mid term elections. It may just be the Pubbies turned out in record numbers??? I'm going to spend some time over the next few days trying to find some answers just to satisfy my curiosity. Regardless, the results could be very informative for future elections...

SNELLINGS-LANDRIEU, REED |
|||||
Its taken nearly four years to custom-build a large brick mansion for Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and her lawyer-builder husband, Frank Snellings, and their two young children, Connor and Mary Shannon. But the Snellings-Landrieu home will be a Capitol Hill showplace, neighbors agree. In fact, its expected to become a kind of embassy for the state of Louisiana in the 400 block of East Capitol Street. It is now close to completion, though tight-lipped owner and project manager Snellings declined to comment about their ambitious architectural effort. (The family has lived in a rented row house nearby during the long construction process.) |
|
||||
Its cost also remains a closely held number, although sources say its well over $1 million, in light of such delicate touches as hand-cut slates, copper roof work, stone lintels and much top-of-the-line custom carpentry. Snellings took over as contractor shortly after the walls started to rise, donning a hard hat and spending many hours at the site. He earned a reputation as an exacting boss who took great pains to perfect every aspect of the house. The designer is a New Orleans architect, David Waggoner. The site, the last large close-in lot on the south side of the wide street, has only one drawback: lack of parking space. The family was able to circumvent city requirements that new houses include off-street parking by successfully filing an appeal for a variance with the Board of Zoning Adjustment. So the Snellings-Landrieu family will have to rough it by parking on the street, although the senators workplace is within easy walking distance. Shes a member of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee and chairs its District subcommittee. Landrieu, who had a career in real estate before rising in Louisiana politics, won a bitterly contested election in the 1996 cycle, winning by less than 6,000 votes. Shes considered vulnerable in November. During the campaign she portrayed herself as a fighter for the middle-class and the working poor. But her concern for ordinary folks comes from on high: The couple has reported assets of $1.85 million (Landrieu) and $4.2 million (Snellings) according to public filings. Landrieus Senate campaign received considerable support from building trades unions. Nevertheless, Snellings used non-union labor on the mansion. |
For her part, Landrieu has the support of a number of local Republicans, including Jefferson Parish President Tim Coulon.
What's with this "local" Pubbie???

If the Cooksey & Perkins voters come thru, along with out-of-state donations, I think Suzie Terrell can win.
(She's definitely a better money manager)

Typical Dim operation. The only way they've been able to win elections is to beg, borrow, steal, or buy votes. I'm thinkin' the price has gotten too high for them to carry on any longer. They ain't got enough dough!
Information from the La. Sec of State web site. Notice there's a very small window for absentee voting due to Thanksgiving; Nov. 25, 26, 27. The site was not precise about the 30th, but since it's a Saturday, I presume they will NOT accept absentee ballots after the 27th??? Additional info the military voting also...
Absentee Voting Opens for December 7th Election
The absentee voting process for the upcoming December 7th election begins on Monday, November 25th, and will close on Saturday, November 30th. Those persons who want to cast an absentee ballot in person should do so at their local registrar of voters office from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Registrar's offices will be closed on Thursday the 28th and Friday the 29th for Thanksgiving holidays. Louisiana law provides for absentee voting by mail, and special provisions are in place for persons in the military. Voters who are physically unable to vote in person at the polls on election day and unable to vote in person at the registrar's office may be eligible for the Special Program for Physically Handicapped Voters. For information about all of these voting alternatives, visit the Department of Elections and Registration web site and select "Absentee Voting". Sample ballots will be available online prior to voting at our Sample Ballot Database.
Voting Information for U. S. Military Personnel
Secretary of State Fox McKeithen and the U. S. Department of Defense have teamed to provide U. S. military personnel with information about the 2002 elections schedule and absentee voting requirements. An informational recording at the Department of Defense Voting Information Center can be accessed by calling 1-800-438-8683 and then entering "52" -- the two number state code for Louisiana. The caller will then hear a recorded menu to select current elections information or hear recorded messages from candidates or their elected officials. McKeithen's message as Louisiana's Chief Elections Officer provides information on upcoming elections, online sample ballots, and how to obtain an absentee ballot. The Center is part of the Federal Voting Assistance Program enabled by the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA).

Well, the local fishwrap endorsing a Dim is NO surprise. I can't find much on the "Alliance" outfit. Found some stuff in the Google cache that refers to a governwell.org that presumably established an internet presence in '98, but the site doesn't appear to have been maintained; little information, dead links, etc. I did find where the "Alliance" handed out some "Legislator of the Year" awards on several occasions, but not knowing the politics of the recipients it's difficult to determine the "Alliance's" politics. I suspect a right sounding, wrong headed outfit; but only a guess...
Can you ladies help???
