Democrat Touts Poll Showing Him Behind [CO-7] & Herrera's Poll Shows Race Neck-and-Neck [NV-3]

Democrat Touts Poll Showing Him Behind

A poll taken last month for former state Sen. Mike Feeley (D) showed him trailing former state GOP Chairman Bob Beauprez by 6 points in the competitive new 7th district.

The survey of 463 likely voters had Beauprez leading Feeley 39 percent to 33 percent, with 22 percent of respondents undecided. Conducted by Boulder, Colo.-based Harstad Strategic Research LLC, the poll was in the field Aug. 26-29 and had a margin of error of 4.6 percent.

Given that this is considered a tossup race, it is unusual that Feeley's campaign would release a three-week-old internal poll showing him trailing by 6 points, though that amount is within the race's margin of error.

The only other publicly released poll of the general election race, an August survey taken for the National Republican Congressional Committee, put Beauprez's lead at 8 points.

Herrera's Poll Shows Race Neck-and-Neck

The campaign of Clark County Commission Chairman Dario Herrera (D) has unveiled a new five-way poll of the 3rd district race showing him trailing state Sen. Jon Porter (R) by a point.

The survey of 612 likely voters had Porter at 39 percent, Herrera at 38 percent, Independent Pete O'Neil at 8 percent, Independent American Richard Odell at 4 percent and Libertarian Neil Scott at 2 percent, with the remaining 11 percent undecided. Conducted by Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, the poll was in the field Sept. 4-7 and had a margin of error of 4 percent.

A poll taken by the same firm in August put Porter's lead at 3 points, while an independent survey taken for the Las Vegas Review Journal the same month showed the Republican ahead by 11 points, with O'Neil pulling just half as much support as he did in the new Herrera poll.

There's a bunch of other interesting campaign info at this link, including a poll showing incumbent Earl Pomeroy (D) with a 49-27 lead in ND-AL. The GOP had hopes of making that race competitive.

I'm also shocked that Feeley released that poll, unless maybe he has plans to release another poll showing that he's caught up or pulled ahead. Tim Johnson pulled that a few months ago. He presented a poll showing him up 2 points, then released a months-old poll that showed him down 5 points. This was supposed to be evidence that he had gained momentum.

Ethically-challenged Herrera wishes he were in a dead heat. The last two independent polls gave Porter double-digit leads.

Who is this O'Neil person getting an unusually high 8% ?

"Conducted by Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, the poll was in the field Sept. 4-7 and had a margin of error of 4 percent."

Mark Penn ?! Wasn't he Clinton's favorite pollster ? Jeez, I wouldn't trust his polling data one iota.

I had never heard of him before. According to DCPoliticalReport.com, they have him listed as a marketing exec./bicycle league commisioner.

If you're really interested, you can read his bio at his campaign website.

Libertarian Neil Scott at 2 percent

When the LP comes in 5th in a 4 way race in Clark County NV, the LP is toast. Isn't this supposed to be their strongest county?

I highly doubt it. I suspect some of the empty counties with legalized cat houses might be at the head as it were.

Witness an e-mail from Pete O'Neil, an independent candidate for the District 3 congressional seat. O'Neil, who is gay, and his partner, Tomy, have three foster children. The e-mail was a forwarded plea looking for a foster home for a 16-year-old boy, suffering from depression, who had been kicked out of his home because of his sexuality.

From his website. You'll also learn he is a Sunday School Teacher at Prince of Peace Catholic Church....a sodomite teaching Sunday School. I wonder if the church knows why so many members have so much cynicism.
