We have achieved similar results in Illinois after having a power struggle in the party for decades (the RINO "old guard" is extremely corrupt and many of them have either resigned or been indicted). The tide turned our way a few weeks ago when conservatives held their ground during a three-week long fight over party Chairman. At last, the establishment gave up and GARY MacDOUGAL, the most conservative guy to hold the office in 30 years, is our new party chairman (a year ago, one of the state's leading conservative organizations tried to draft him to run for office, saying he was the "kind of leader" Republicans desperately need)
The complacent, "me tooism" Republicanism of George Ryan and Lee Daniels is now being replaced by principled conservatives in all the major positions within the GOP hierarchy. Buh bye, RINOs.
Conservatives on the verge of controlling Illinois GOP
;-)
But Republicans never cease to amaze in their singular lack of PR savy. They are the Arabs of the political universe, in my opinion. They think just saying something should be enough, and in theory of course they're right, but all people or organizations that want to accomplish their goals need to be circumspect about PR.
The only PR campaign that the Republicans excelled in over the last 10 years was the Harry and Louise PR stuff that they backed in order to shut down Hillary's "healthcare" plan. They need more of that kind of creative counterpoint strategy, as well as be willing to get into peoples' faces when it's appropriate to do so. Watching Republicans interviewed makes my hair hurt. They are painfully inept at burying the hatchet in the skull of the very opponent who is attempting to do the same to them. They need to get some gonads.
