The hottest congressional race in America is shaping up in Pennsylvania's Eighth Congressional District.
Tom Lingenfelter, a Bucks County businessman and historian, is challenging incumbent Jim Greenwood in the May 21 Republican primary. Greenwood, a self-proclaimed moderate (i.e. liberal) frequently referred to as a donkey in an elephant suit is seeking his sixth term in office. Greenwood is widely known for his staunch support of abortion and gun control.
Lingenfelter, Pro-Life and Pro-Constitution, gained first place on the Republican primary's balloting position after more than twice the required number of registered Republicans signed his nomination petition.
The GOP primary will determine the next Eighth District Congressman because the Democrats have not placed a candidate on the ballot, making this a race for all the marbles.
Greenwood's extreme liberal voting record on federal spending and civil liberties are cloaked by the Republican mantle he hides under. His three year average (1999-2001) ADA score of 40% earned him the RINO (Republican In Name Only) moniker by Washington insiders. The average Republican ADA score for those same three years is 10%.
With the vast menu of liberal issues Greenwood serves up, Tom Lingenfelter's biggest decision will be which of Greenwood's anti-Republican missteps to go after first.
Greenwood's 100% pro-abortion/'partial' birth abortion voting record, his repudiation of his term limits pledge and his support of the Campaign Finance Reform bill with its restrictions on free speech are all issues of growing concern to Republicans everywhere.
Lingenfelter's most difficult problem will be getting the chameleon-like Greenwood to face him in debate.
Greenwood's past campaign strategies can be summed up in three words. Avoid. Distort. Assassinate
First, he avoids mentioning his own liberal voting record. More deviously, he avoids any discussion of Republican based issues with his opposition.
Next, he distorts his opponent's record while characterizing himself as a 'moderate', a 'conservative' or a 'libertarian' as circumstances dictate.
Third, he has a history of assassinating his opponent's character. Greenwood is the embodiment of the traditional bureaucrat politician whose priority is keeping his job.
Many believe that Greenwood's defeat will remove a Jim Jeffords 'clone' from the House of Representatives.

That is not true. If it were the hottest race the next line would offer real proof that it is.. Like poll numbers or the size of crowds or media coverage or somthing that would tend to prove that it is a hot race. The only proof is that the challenger had twice as many signatures to get on the ballot as needed. That creates the opposite impression. In every camapaign I ever heard of they get twice as many signatures as are needed. It is easy to get twice as many as needed It does not impress anyone but amatuer dunder heads.
You attack a man who has been elected 6 times and promote a man whose main claim to fame is he aint the man who has been elected 6 times.
This story looks like an amatuer production.
First rule of thumb. Don't tell lies in an attempt to get support. It always backfires. This is not the hottest congressional primary race in America. The person that wrote the story lies and that person supports the challenger. Strike 1.
The way to get support is not to try to convice people your candidate is doing great when you haven't a clue. You get support by presenting your plight. You don't trash the man you are running against. You present his record in reserved terms and express sadness that it is the way it is. You are trying to throw out an incumbant. So you reluctanlty follow your conscience to do things for the good of the nation you would rather not do.
Implying that the incumbant is a bastard and that you are doing great against him sends all the wrong messages.
If this is indicative of your challenge you had best et used to being defeated. You are going to lose
Here's another one. Most of the people in this district stay home during congressional elections. Greenwood get's in by turning people off.

Where the hell did you ever learn trash like that? Do me a favor. Keep your inane advice to yourself.
BTW - Has Tom held elective office before?
Thanks and best wishes to your success,Dan.
While never having held a public office, Tom Lingenfelter served two terms on the Republican State Committee, an elected position. Oh my goodness. That sounds like a machine hack PR statement.
And for us amateurs, that ain't a pleasant thing.< smiley face >
In fact, the statement is stupendously ludicrous. No one is paying any attention to the race, and the right winger will get his ass whipped 2 to 1 just like last time. If he did win, he would be a general election loser.
When I think about a hot primary race on the congressional level I think about Dingle versus Rivers, or Mascara versus Murtha.
What a joke.
Probably not in a district like that one.
Well where is the Bucks County Reform Party, etc.
While the "hottest race in the country" label may be hype, the substance of the post is not a lie at all. The substance of the post is only an attack in the sense that it tells the truth about Greenwood. Greenwood's been elected 6 times, but so have many liberals. A liberal being elected is not an accomplishment to celebrate.
Greenwood's record is clearly liberal and often more liberal than that of Democrats. If the people of Bucks County want a liberal representing them, that's their choice. However, good Republicans should want to replace liberals with conservatives. Mr. Lingenfelter gives them that opportunity.
From personal experience, I know that Mr. Lingenfelter is not an extreme right-wing ideologue. He is a solid conservative with views that are mainstream even though liberals refuse to see them that way. He is an educated man who has lived an interesting life. His experiences should make him a great representative.

Bill
Probably where the county boss would like Tom Lingenfelter to be.
Tom Lingenfelter is the kind of man we need in Congress today. He values the freedom America stands for and is blessed with the tenacity it is going to take to undo the damage done by the likes of the Clintons and Greenwoods.
Thanks for your support.
John
There is a biblical quote that applies to moderates like Greenwood. I remember it as " Be ye either hot or cold because the lukewarm I spit from My mouth".
Best wishes to Texas. Hope your RINO hunt is a big success.
Thanks. Greenwoods about to find out how hot is.
