JD Vance Is Building Coalition for H-1B Reforms
Breitbard ^ | October 5, 2026 | Neil Munro

Posted on 10/05/2026 10:57:10 AM PDT by absalom01

“The H-1B program is completely broken, and I’d be very supportive of just eliminating it,” Vice President JD Vance said on October 1.

Vance is gradually expanding his criticism of the white-collar replacement programs, in step with expanding support from Silicon Valley investors who want a compromise reform amid increasing public opposition.

“He’s certainly trying to gain more attention to this,” said Chris Chmielenski, a founder of the Immigration Accountability Project (IAP) advocacy group.

“The vice president is a strong messenger for conservatives … [and] this would be a natural area for [Democrats] to also speak out on,” he told Breitbart News.

...

“My belief on this is the H-1B program has been totally taken advantage of, not just by technology companies [but also] by accounting firms, by people who are basically defrauding the American worker,” Vance told Jack Posobiec at Human Events, adding:

If you want to say, “Oh, I’d like to bring a genius into the United States of America,” you can have that conversation. But if you’re going to bring in an accountant making $45,000 a year to replace an accountant who’s an American making $60,000 a year-that’s not you using the program to bring in a genius. That’s you destroying American jobs and defrauding the American people.

... The program imports roughly 120,000 workers each year, and keeps roughly 900,000 foreign workers in U.S. jobs. The total includes roughly 750,000 H-1B workers, plus at least 100,000 spouses, nearly all of whom hold jobs that would otherwise be held by skilled American college graduates.

This is kind of an ad for the "Vance for President" crowd, so grain of salt on that front. BUT...I think that the base has finally been heard on this, and even the saner parts of the Silicon Valley VC crowd (Viz. David Sacks) have come around.

This is an issue that is only going to get more salient, and the GOP can't afford to continue to whistle past the H1-B graveyard.

Don’t reform it. Eliminate it and the similar programs that exist.

...as opposed to the "Rubio for President" crowd, who want us to forget about Rubio's role in the Gang of 8 and the fact that unlike Vance, he'd be working to expand both H1B and on giving illegal immigrants legal status if elected.

You can’t address H1B abuses without also addressing offshoring. I don’t really have a solution for the latter. Special payroll tax on the companies who offshore based on the foreign employee count? Count Accenture contractors as regular employees?

Remember the pandemic? How everyone was having to work from home? Remotely? If you want to hire citizens of another country, you can hire them to work from their home country, and still have the savings.

He’s got a mountain to climb if he’s going to sell himself as the anti-Indian import candidate.

I've said this before and I'll say it again...the millennial and Gen-Z vote will shift at least 10-15 points away from Dems if the administration actually gets rid of this H-1B racket

Our side would be too naive to do nothing about it...

besides, the males of these segments already marginally favor Republicans (going by 2024 election)

Add a freeze on immigration and you will get more votes.

Vance’s sponsor and benefactor and one-time boss is Peter Thiel.

However Vance sugarcoats them, you can be sure that his positions align with Thiel’s.

this H-1B racket

Racket is correct. Big Tech claims that there just aren't enough US citizens with the appropriate skills and education to fill these jobs, so they have to import Indians and Chinese workers.

The reality is that colleges and universities in America are graduating plenty of computer science and engineering majors. The reason they don't suit Big Tech is that they want to earn 100K rather than 40-50K a year, whereas the Indians and Chinese are willing to work for peanuts.

It's a scam whereby Big Tech can reap the benefits of operating from a country with a First World infrastructure and economy while being able to pay Third World salaries. Outsourcing/offshoring is even better for them for the same reason.

Deloitte is the #1 abuser of H1b. Deloitte is also a very big contractor on Vance funded programs. Deloitte IES Integrate Eligibility System in 25+ states to enroll and manage eligibility for Medicaid, CHIP, SNAP, WIC, TANF, Sec8, LIHEAP, etc with both Federal and state money is probably the largest.

Many Deloitte H1b do not understand Federal or state law and custom. Many Deloitte H1b IT workers are not competent in IT. But the biggest factor is that H1b are in no position to become WHISTLEBLOWERS. That is why Deloitte has them on government contracts.

Deloitte government contracts are a FRAUD and Deloitte does not want anyone to know it.

In this case Deloitte should be replaced by an honest IT VENDOR.

Both Rubio and Vance... and DeSantis ... and probably others are valid to be considered for 2028. In contrast, Cruz has Senate abilities but would not be the best use of his limited skills in the executive.

Others? One of the Trump boys is often named. But why not Lara Trump? She is probably the most competent of the lot.

Why not Sarah Huckabee-Sanders? She knows the job as well as anyone named.

“I’d be supportive of just eliminating it”

Political speak for I’d do nothing to initiate it or actively use presidential power to end it like Trump has done. 🙄

“millennial and Gen-Z vote ... if gets rid of this H-1B racket

I’ve worked beside many IT H1b who are incompetent and many H1b who are competent... just as many Americans in IT who are competent and many who are incompetent.

I have not seen any anti-H1b attitude among my citizen co-workers. I am definitely more anti-H1b than most.

Where is this anti-H1b (or anti-Indian) swing vote that I have not seen?

I hope JD Vance does not turn him into Kamala Harris over these H1Bs.

Kamala ran for office on fixing this, fixing that, and people scratched their heads and asked: Why aren’t you fixing it right now? Why are you as Kamala campaigning on the things you didn’t fix when you were fully capable of fixing them at that time?

JD Vance is expected to run for President.

Why isn’t he abolishing/pushing to abolish H1B right now during Trump’s Presidency? When he says “I’d be very supportive of just eliminating it” that sounds like a sop to his Big Tech overlords. He just does not sound serious.

We do not need President Big Tech. If JD wants to be President Big Tech, he is not worthy of being President.

Vance is absolutely correct about this and he’s one of the few who is on the side of Americans rather than the large corporations and billionaires who fund political campaigns. This is an excellent campaign issue and I hope he hammers the Democrats with it. They claim to be on the side of Americans but the truth is they are the ones primarily funded by those corporate lobbyists.

America - and Americans - First.
