The anti-war crack in MAGA's youth base
Politico ^ | May 2026 | Ben Johansen

Posted on 06/14/2026 6:27:48 AM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Interviews with six chapter leaders of the youth conservative movement Turning Point USA in swing states revealed a striking level of frustration.

“From a lot of my peers, especially in Gen Z right now, there is a lot of frustration and now, distrust, in our current administration over the decisions with the war in Iran,” said Rebekah Bushmire, vice president of the University of West Georgia’s Turning Point USA chapter.

Connor Darby, vice chair of a TPUSA chapter at the University of North Georgia, pointed out Trump’s comments about pre-war strikes having destroyed Iran’s nuclear capabilities. “I thought that was accomplished,” Darby said…"The financial situation is what comes next. We have to pay for food and bills.”

"Everyone I’ve talked to, at least my age — is more anti-war, more on Carlson’s side than Trump’s side,” said Oliver Genovese, president of the Davidson College Turning Point USA chapter in North Carolina.

“There’s a lot of problems that we have that aren’t being addressed by the administration, like the housing crisis,” said Darrius Singh, president of Penn State’s TPUSA chapter.

The generational split has become especially visible in the online ecosystem shaping younger conservative politics, where distrust of foreign intervention and hostility toward the Republican establishment often blend together.

They never had to hide under their desks or be concerned about fallout. So they invented a climate change God and went on attack themselves.

I agree war is unnecessary. Im not saying military action has no place but we and the Israelis had and have the means to surgically incapacitate Iran. I support Trump but this was a misstep.

A reverse of the Vietnam War support.

During the Vietnam war the under 30s were stronger supporters of the war than the older voters, for Iran it is the opposite, the older voters are the stronger supporters of military action against the regime.

No, actually they grew up under decades of the neocons “stupid wars” in the Middle East and agreed with Trump that they needed to end. So they voted for him, and he carried on doing exactly what his predecessors did, entangling the U.S. in another “stupid war” for foreign interests while our own real problems at home get worse.

But instead of confront that reality you blame conservative youth for ‘climate change’ when zero mention of it was even made.

Pathetic job from the Foreigners First crowd.

“Younger Trump voters were also far more likely to say the war ran against MAGA principles and that the U.S. should avoid additional American casualties even if it means leaving objectives in Iran unfinished, the POLITICO poll found.

A flagship democrat party publication, Politico, and CondoleezzaProtege have found cracks in Trump support against Islam having a nuclear bomb.

It’s not a crack.

MAGA promised an end to military adventurism on behalf of alien peoples and a re-focus on defending our borders.

The tiny minority of traitors trying to subvert MAGA to carry on neocon policies are being exposed and they don’t like it. Not one bit.

THat’s not a “split”. That’s justice.

It’s not ‘name calling’, it’s the appellation for a sect that has controlled American foreign policy for over 35 years. Certainly the lifespan of anyone qualifying as a member of the ‘youth vote’.

It is marked by incessant military intervention abroad, and repeated (failed and half baked) efforts at ‘regime change’.

Examples include our wars in:

Somalia

Iraq

Libya

Syria

Yemen

Iran

Americans reject this foreign policy over and over (Bush, Obama and Trump all won running against it).

So no, it’s not non-cited ‘climate change’ that has young conservatives disillusioned with Trump’s continuation of a failed foreign policy Americans have tried to reject over and over again.

I don’t think that climate change is an issue for young maga.

climate change would be an issue for young communists.

These yutes must have had a really bad day when news hit that Obama’s active National Emergency of Venezuela had one of their Narco Terrorists experience an end to their endless FA with a FO bomb in his living room courtesy of the US Military and the newly cooperative Venezuela.

disagree. gunslinger characterized the younger crowd accurately. Granted you may not like the characterization but it is what it is.

we are hoping that this war ends soon enough and favorably enough to NOT screw Trump in the fall elections. we agree that the iranian mullahs are trouble.

I trust in God and Trump’s instincts.
