One potential coalition, which would be healthy for both the party and the country, would be between social conservatives and antiwar voters.
In the time since the election, both of these groups have been repeatedly disappointed, especially by the [Trump] administration’s war with Iran and its approval, through the FDA, of a new form of mifepristone, a dangerous abortion pill...
These two disappointed factions are naturally complementary coalition partners, particularly on the pro-life issue. There is a natural connection between the defense of innocent human life at home through pro-life policies and protecting it abroad by avoiding unjust wars.
There’s also a historical through-line; America’s embrace of social liberalism followed our nation’s abandonment of our Founding principles of geopolitical neutrality and nonintervention, and the rise of an increasingly insatiable appetite for empire abroad and foreign wars on the part of our leadership class...
Edward Feser, a prominent Catholic philosopher, told TAC. “I would guess that that is the sort of thinking that leads Trump to decide both to keep abortion pills accessible, and to threaten to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure.”
“There is too much inconsistency or cognitive dissonance in both the pro-life and antiwar camps, and now is a good occasion to emphasize this and try to get more people to think more consistently.”

There was a time when Tea Party people and OWS people could have sat down and found some good areas of agreement.
Social conservatives are Trump’s base voters.

And that’s a major item in the Agenda list of the TDS crowd. Have no doubt!
Evangelicals amplify Trump’s religious framing of Iran war

Tell these coalitions that Iran is the oldest active National Emergency that dates back to Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush. Obama, Obama’s Coup, Biden.
During that time that National Emergency Iran has been a National Emergency , it is also the leading state sponsor of terror.
If you’re trying to whine about Iran when the nation has an actual National Emergency regarding that place, you should have spoken up a lot earlier than when the only dude to actually try to end the Emergency is in the Oval Office.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, pro state sponsors of terror aka pro life and anti war coalition.
Evangelicals went 81% for Trump and they are also Israel’s American base, you won’t be turning them into democrats and pro-Iran.
Yes, but it was the anti-war protestors who voted for him because they believed he wouldn't start attacking countries in the ME.
MAGA was a much bigger movement when those voters helped propel Trump into the WH.
It's too bad he betrayed them. Hopefully, the mid-terms won't set conservatives back too much. It always takes an enormous amount of money or an enormous amount of pain inflicted by the Democrats win the WH and then to get majorities in the House and Senate.
Yes but Trump can’t win solely by FreeRepublic types. He needed MAHA, Tulsi Gabbard, the youth vote (which Barron helped him get by having him appear on all those crucial podcasts.)
Charlie Kirk very clearly said: if a new Mideast war started, or if economic and ownership prospects for Gen Z won’t improve, more Mamdanis would emerge and win.
Freerepublic types?
Read post 8 again on your thread about social conservatives splitting from Trump, as you hope for them to turn against Trump and Israel.
“Evangelicals went 81% for Trump and they are also Israel’s American base, you won’t be turning them into democrats and pro-Iran.”
The Iowa GOP primary this past week demonstrates a related dynamic at work:
MAHA-backed Zach Lahn beat Trump-backed (and Bayer/Monsanto backed) Randy Feenstra.
Why is this a big deal? Because unlike Thomas Massie’s locally held, baby-boomer dominated House district — Zach Lahn won a statewide Senate primary in a more significant electoral player state.

Do you even know what this thread is about? You posted it.
I’m anti-war. And pro-war. Depends on the war. Iran with nukes? Worth stopping. Trying to turn Afghanistan into a modern country? Fool’s errand. Killing terrorists in the Middle East and tying them down there instead of them coming to us? Good idea! Pretending ANY Arab country will become a democracy? Dumb.
PS: Been shot at many times over Iraq and did a ground tour in Afghanistan. My son did 3 tours in the ME and my oldest daughter did one. Backed my mouth up with my life.
The article is about groups who helped propel Trump to power forging a conservative coalition that’s more consistently pro-life and not war-addicted. It’s already happening. Rand Paul is an early example heading in that direction... the MAHA guy in Iowa is another. Joe Kent too.
A Durable Coalition: Social Conservatives and Antiwar Voters
You won’t get the social conservatives to join your anti-Trump, anti-Israel, pro-Iran anti-war voters.
Good luck getting Gen Z on board with your endless wars, tanked economy, Epstein elite worship.
Thank you for your (and your children’s!) service.
I do believe Trump’s restraint has to do with his heart for the lives of service members.
That was weird, you are whacky and it leaks out a lot.

You’re talking about boomers only. Massie won a majority of votes from those under 56 y/o. Younger conservative voters have way different perspective of things compared to boomers. They hate Israel, no longer like Trump, and are definitely against any more of these continuous wars.
