Big hitters on Wall Street are lining up to support Nikki Haley’s long-shot bid to snatch the 2024 Republican presidential nomination from Donald Trump.
“There’s a desperate, desperate hunt for anybody but Trump,” said one of the roughly 30 senior executives The Wall Street Journal spoke with to gauge the mood of the finance set roughly a year ahead of the election.
While Wall Street’s die-hard Democrats are sticking with President Biden, many other financiers have been casting about for an alternative to Trump, the former president they see as too unpredictable among other concerns. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s clash with Walt Disney and stilted public appearances hurt his standing, while Virginia Democrats’ statewide victories this month quashed the idea of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (and former Carlyle Group co-CEO) jumping into the race.
Attention on Haley, a former South Carolina governor and Trump’s former U.N. ambassador, intensified after Sen. Tim Scott’s (R., S.C.) unexpected exit Sunday.

Why? Didn’t Wall Street do very well under Trump?
The big donors helped kill Desantes. They are poison to the base.
Haley was broke when she left the statehouse. Now she is worth millions. Whoever gave her the millions owns her. I will vote libertarian if she is the GOP nominee.
WHY?
She CAN’T win.
She is not eligible.
Even Bite Me could beat her.
This article is NONSENSE. BULLSHIRT.
I’m not going to vote for a presidential candidate who might be barred from the Oval Office on the grounds of not being a natural born citizen.
None of the polls mean a thing without considering Kennedy as a 3rd party candidate. Maybe Trump too.
I’ll put it this way: if it’s Haley? That tells me the nation is already lost. I will stay home, or at worst vote for the dems because our destruction is assured. Better to embrace it and rip the bandage off all at once than elect that shrill harpy and slow-roll it.
He’s “unpredictable,” yada yada...
When government controls business, business will control government.
THAT’s what they’re worried about.
NO! We don’t want no Nikki Haley.
Kennedy and Manchin. There’s the 3rd party ticket. And they’d have a real shot at messing things up.....maybe winning.
There is a sizable portion of Republican base that won’t vote for anyone but Trump. Plus she’s a woman and non-white which is probably a tough sale for more conservative people. And that’s disregarding her repugnant political views
She has no chance at all not even for VP. I am a Republican and I would never vote for her neither would 90% of the country.
Fools
Wall Street = DeepState Uni-Party
“Even if she beat trump she would get trounced in the general so what’s even the point ?”
But losing to the Deep State Dem IS the point.
Well said my FRiend.
They did. But they’re Blue Staters and Ivy Leaguers and their wives are all over them about abortion and their kids are LGBTQ+. Also, a lot of voters who aren’t any of those things are still uneasy about Trump, as they were in 2016. Trump should have been reelected in 2020, but now a lot of people are back to “What crazy thing is he going to do if he gets elected?”
Well I can’t disagree with that
The point— for the GOPe—is that Haley would restore their natural order of things that Trump wrecked in 2016 because she would embrace being the designated loser. There is a lot of money for the GOPe by playing nice with their Democrat betters.
It was a challenge, but they've actually found someone's leg even worse than mittens and jeb for the K street to hump.
It is a great nationwide Wall Street whore hunt....
