Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that his state will push forward and build its own wall at the southern border.
Abbott revealed the Lone Star State’s plans to Breitbart shortly before a border summit in Del Rio, Texas on Thursday. Those plans were confirmed at the summit and reported by CBS Dallas-Fort Worth.
“I will announce next week the plan for the state of Texas to begin building the border wall in the state of Texas,” he declared at the event.

Will the liberals go to court, and get an injunction against the state of Texas, on the legal grounds that controlling “immigration”, legal or illegal immigration, is strictly a federal matter, and not a state matter? Stay tuned.

A state can build a wall on any land owned by that state. I am sure the Texas AG has already looked into all legal aspects before Abbott spoke

Of course, all we need to do is recognize the federal welfare state isn’t constitutional (it isn’t) and a lot of the problem goes away.
I don’t think that they realize they are hurting people in Mexico. They are making the country of Mexico worse, and hurting the most helpless people there.
Start building the wall about 50 feet from the border so it is in Texas. Call it a Texas infrastructure project to protect the butterflies.

They may try, but the 5th circuit is generally not a liberal friendly court.
Its a good policy - they have a responsibility to protect the State. They can target some hotspots, and divert flow around some vulnerable Border towns, protecting the citizens.
But Texas alone will not be able to muster even a significant fraction of the funding that the Federal Government could - not enough to finish the job.
Texas alone has about 1,250 miles out of the total 1,950 mile Southern Border - and most of the existing Border Wall is in the other three Border States. Only California has enough budget relative to the size of its remaining open border, to really have a shot at finishing it on their own.
President Trump really did leave California, Arizona and New Mexico in a dramatically better position for border control. El Paso Texas as well.
