Dems Reportedly Considering ‘Total War’ If GOP Fills Supreme Court Seat, Including Possible New States

Democrats are reportedly gearing up for “total war” and plan to implement radical changes to the legislative and judiciary branches of the government if the GOP-led Senate confirms a new Supreme Court (SCOTUS) justice before the Nov. 3 election then lose the majority after the election, Axios reported Sunday.

The Democrats’ options include ending the Senate filibuster rule — which requires a 60-vote supermajority to end debate and move to a vote instead of a simple majority — expanding the number of Supreme Court justices, granting statehood to the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and even undertaking a second impeachment effort against the President if he tries to fill the seat vacated by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

A Jewish friend noted that it was suspicious that the planned funeral ceremonies for Ruth Bader Ginsberg are being scheduled to take a considerable amount of time. Ordinarily, if a death occurs during the Jewish High Holidays, it is customary to have the funeral rites and burial expedited. The suggestion is that the funeral is being prolonged for political purposes so Trump can be criticized as insensitive if he acts swiftly.

Can someone explain to me how they can get around the Constitutional obstacles to granting statehood to D.C.? Not only does the Constitution say the seat of government will be located in a Federal District under the control of the Federal government but the 23rd Amendment says that District will get three Electoral Votes. I don’t think Congress can make all of that go away by passing a law.
