Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has emerged into a fresh controversy after she returned the Ripple of Hope Award bestowed upon her by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization in December 2019, following criticism from Kerry Kennedy. Kerry is the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy, and the president of the organization.
Over the course of June 2020 LGBTQ Pride Month and much to my dismay, J.K. Rowling posted deeply troubling transphobic tweets and statements, Kennedy posted on the organizations website on Aug. 3. On June 6, she tweeted an article headlined Opinion: Creating a more equal post-COVID-19 world for people who menstruate. She wrote glibly and dismissively about transgender identity: People who menstruate. Im sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?
Kennedy said she had spoken with Rowling to express my profound disappointment that she has chosen to use her remarkable gifts to create a narrative that diminishes the identity of trans and nonbinary people, undermining the validity and integrity of the entire transgender community one that disproportionately suffers from violence, discrimination, harassment, and exclusion and, as a result, experiences high rates of suicide, suicide attempts, homelessness, and mental and bodily harm. Black trans women and trans youth in particular are targeted.

I remember my Ripple days....well, at least some of them.
While I applaud J.K., I still say, “Welcome to the world you helped to create.”
Libtards are out of control!
I don’t give a hoot about JK Rowling, but that was funny!
Free Sirhan Sirhan!
I dont believe he is sympathetic towards the tranny freak show. It is just hip to be ok with sexual deviance today in some circles. Possible hes an idiot. Any male that presents as a female or vice-versa is mentally disturbed and deserves therapy and sympathy. Mental illness should not be celebrated. Good for Rowling (this time)
Many were the days I experienced the “Hope of Ripple.”
Good for Rowling. Lately she’s been standing up against the tyranny of the Cancel Culture.
Love to see the Kennedys get slapped and put in their place. Perfect response by Rowling. Give back their award — and forever destroy the significance of any future Robert “CancelCulture” Kennedy award.
...”experiences high rates of suicide, suicide attempts...” Lies of omission here. The high rate of suicide hasn’t been shown linked to ostracism but the insanity of delusion that propels people to maim themselves in response to inner voices. So the rest of the kennedy screed is to be judged accordingly. Kennedys have pretty much outlived their relevance and so thoroughly polluted the bloodline, which sprang from a greedy immoral criminal, through drugs and booze that they’re approaching the status of a punchline.
Good for her.
I hope she included a tube of lube.
Her book sales are lagging because she entered into a deal with Amazon last year to include her books in Amazon Unlimited, which lets you read them for free. Most of the other books that are available on Amazon Unlimited are either from authors you have never heard of or books that have not sold a copy for years.
The real virtue would have been initially declining any award with the word “ripple” in it.
“biological sex exists” = “transphobic!”
It’s a cult, really.
Exactly
I have two awards I’d like to return to them: The Ted and Patrick Kennedy Safe Driver Award, and the Kennedy/Dodd Award from the American Sandwich Makers Association.
I loves me some Liberal-on-Liberal fighting.
Next... Will BJ Clinton return his Fulbright Scholarship?
