I’ve noticed that many times when there is a black woman on TV or a movie, she has an elegant British accent. That’s because the finger wagging, “Uh-huh, you betta’ watch out, honey,” brogue so common among American black women sounds ignorant and, to me, offensive.

However, I have several black women renters and none of them talk like that. At least, not around me. They all sound educated and reasonable. (So much so, that the moment I heard them talk and verified employment, I said, “Sign here.” I haven’t regretted it since. It leaves me wondering why TV still pushes that “stereotypical” black woman accent, often for roles that would benefit from a different accent.

OK, this is how it goes: Michelle gets picked as VP so that the real President (unlike “figure head” Joe) will be Valerie Jarrett (and yes, ValJar is technically (1) Black and (2) female). That should fill the bill. She was born in Iran, but of American (I think) parents. So she’s more “natural born” as Bambi was/is.
