Wednesday on MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour,” former lead strategist for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign James Carville said the presumptive Democratic Party nominee former Vice President Joe Biden would “wipeout” President Donald Trump in 2020.

Carville said, “First of all, he (Trump) won with 46.1%. He’s literally lost 95% of the elections that have taken place between the time of his election and right now. His polling numbers are going down, and they’re awful. Usually, in a crisis – I mean, Jimmy Carter was at 67% in the Iran hostage crisis. The prime minister of Italy is over 70%. I’ll bet you 30 governors in the United States are over 70%. I’m totally, totally unimpressed by President Trump’s political prowess...
He added, “What I do fear is what you had in Wisconsin, which is where they ran amok with the election and stopped people from voting. But if we go to post in November anything close to a level playing field, it’s going to be a Democratic wipeout. People are not going to vote for four more years of this."

Look, Biden’s surrogates have a long, tough row to hoe. If you have to hide the candidate you will need many multiple surrogates to say all sorts of outrageous things.
The time will come when they will be forced to bring Biden out, and then, yes, it will be over.
I suspect those Jimmy Carter numbers were from polling in Tehran, not the U.S.A.
Everyone is looking at the November election through the lens of the current crisis but it could be somewhat of a memory by the fall, if everyone’s back to work and the situation returns to normal.
Even so, a lot of voters would take a long second thought if at all conflicted, at the contrast between energetic, optimistic and focussed Trump, and lost to dementia Joe Biden. Would anyone really want that guy running the country? It would come down to voting for his vice presidential pick because that person would really be running the show, I believe.
Bush 1 was over 90% approval right after the Gulf War and lost to Slick.
