Sen. Richard Burr (D-NC) is facing a lawsuit for allegedly taking advantage of inside information to sell shares of his stock before the coronavirus outbreak sent the market plunging.
The lawsuit was filed by Thomas P. O’Brien, a former federal prosecutor, on behalf of Wyndham Hotels shareholder Alan Jacobson, on Monday in Washington, DC. It alleges that Burr violated the law when he dumpled up to $1.7 million in stocks before the pandemic caused the global markets to collapse.

I sold my stock a few months ago simply because all booms go bust and I felt the latest boom was about to go bust too.
The only way RATs could have predicted this crash is if they engineered it. Seeing as how they have been plotting and lying to take down the Bad Orange Man I’d only be surprised if they were not involved.

So, what would be the remedy to the plaintiff? Burr caused his WYND stock to fall by selling? How much more did WYND fall than any other given stock? He sold what, .2% of the float? (WAGuess) Did Burr cause EVERY stock to fall? OK, Burr pays the guy .2% of the 30 points the stock fell. Assume the plaintiff owns 5,000 shs * .2% * 30. = $300. Not actionable by a private person, IMO. Actionable by the SEC, perhaps, but my understanding is that Congresspeople are not bound by insider rules. For better or for worse.

It was a legal transaction, congress is exempt from insider trading laws.
It wasn’t until the 104th congress that senators and congress critters had their exemption from virtually ALL laws (murder was exempted) removed.

You will note reports that a lot of rich people unloaded stocks at the same time. Senate report or not, some smart investors were on the ball before everyone else. Before we hang Burr, let’s get some clarity about whether: (a) Burr traded his own stocks; (b) Burr has someone else who does that for him (one would think he would); and (c) if he does have a guy who manages his money, did he communicate with him after the confidential briefing. At this point, as far as I am aware, it is pure speculation. I realize the man is a RINO and did a terrible disservice colluding with Mark Warner throughout the Russia Hoax. Still, we should not act like a bunch of Democrats.
