DUBUQUE, Iowa — One of the essential storylines of the 2016 presidential election was the hidden Donald Trump voter: the person who wasn’t surveyed by pollsters or comfortable telling friends or family about who they thought was best to lead the country.
Three years ago, thousands of these Americans — many working class, residing in the middle of the country — helped deliver the most astounding electoral surprise in modern history. Now, as they review the Trump presidency a year before his reelection, some are showing signs of turning on conventional wisdom again.
Heather, a local administrative assistant here who is married with a stroller-bound toddler, is still so embarrassed by her 2016 vote that she wasn’t comfortable revealing her last name.
“I’m ashamed to admit … but I’m of a more conservative bent and family. I just couldn’t vote for Hillary. But I also thought there’s no way Trump was going to win. This way, I could at least say, ‘Well I didn’t vote for her,’” she said. “I didn’t think I was doing any harm.” While Heather isn’t sharing her conversion far and wide, she’s already decided “there’s no chance” she’d vote for Trump again. “Heavens no,” she said. “Trump basically turned me into a Democrat.”

Read carefully. The women quoted in this article weren’t Trump voters to begin with. “Heather” (no last name given) maybe voted for him. Article doesn’t really say. The rest of the women quoted here are either Democrats or voted third party in 2016.
"President Trump" is a proper noun and is capitalized. "President" as in "The president said," is a common noun and is not capitalized.

For every phantom/fantasy women changing their vote for Trump, there are thousands of real women buying guns since 2016:
There are thousands and thousands of women, who bought guns or had their man buy them a gun for protection, who probably didn't vote for Trump in 2016.
So these women buying guns in record numbers are going to vote for a gun grabber instead of President Trump?

That is less common. My guess is either she was "basically" a Democrat all along, or the people she knew were so anti-Trump that they influenced her to become anti-Trump. Her awkwardness about voting for Trump became sheepishness, then embarrassment, then shame because people around her reinforced her initial uneasiness about it.
Last night I saw a news clip showing a white female MSM reporter interviewing a focus group of white, female, working-class Trump supporters. Thinking she had a “gotcha” question, the reporter asked, “If Trump shot someone on 5th Avenue, would you still support him?” Unruffled, one woman replied, “It would depend on why he shot him.” Brilliant!
They could not vote for Hillary but will vote for a Hillary clone.
You don’t go from being a Republican to being a Commucrat because of Trump. Nice try David and “Heather”!
