Democratic donors on Wall Street and in big business are preparing to sit out the presidential campaign fundraising cycle — or even back President Donald Trump — if Sen. Elizabeth Warren wins the party’s nomination.
In recent weeks, CNBC spoke to several high-dollar Democratic donors and fundraisers in the business community and found that this opinion was becoming widely shared as Warren, an outspoken critic of big banks and corporations, gains momentum against Joe Biden in the 2020 race.
“You’re in a box because you’re a Democrat and you’re thinking, ‘I want to help the party, but she’s going to hurt me, so I’m going to help President Trump,’” said a senior private equity executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity in fear of retribution by party leaders. The executive said this Wednesday, a day after Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House would begin a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump.
During the campaign, Warren has put out multiple plans intended to curb the influence of Wall Street, including a wealth tax. In July, she released a proposal that would make private equity firms responsible for debts and pension obligations of companies they buy. Trump, meanwhile, has given wealthy business leaders a helping hand with a major corporate tax cut and by eliminating regulations.

I don’t think this would bother Warren or hier activist fanbase one bit. It may be a loser in a presidential election, but the socialists would see it as a win because they took over the Democrat party.
By 2022, the nevertrump wing of the Republican party and the corporate wing of the Democrat party will have officially merged into a centrist sounding but pre-2008 democrat acting political party. What’s left of Bill and Hillary Clinton will be on stage to claim credit for the idea backed by Paul Ryan, Jeb Bush, and John Kasich, always more former republicans on stage than Democrats so as to appear safe and reasonable.
This was all talked about even in 2018. Half of these candidates for the Dem Party are talking heavy regulation. That won’t interest Wall Street.
Donor analysts are suggesting that Trump will certainly pass 1-billion in campaign funds...even to suggest it nearing 1.5-billion by November of 2020. Warren will be lucky if she can take in $500 million to run her entire primary and regular campaign.
I suspect they will once again lick the backside of whoever is ahead in the polls, and the cleanest surface on the planet during the first week of november, 2016, was hillary clinton’s ass.
The fake impeachment effort is about harassing the President, but it’s also about the harpy wing of the Democrats getting Biden out and Warren in. Hard socialism is the only way they can get even more control over everyone here.
Economic collapse? Of course. They’ve wanted to destroy “the Patriarchy” all along. What they want more than anything else is to take the “good ‘ol boys” out (wealthy men).
Probably unfair to freaks. I know a couple and at least they have entertainment value and aren’t looking to hurt anyone. Can’t say the same about the rat field. They are collectively a disaster.
Aw shucks. Good ol’ boy Biden was going to be the savior. Great supporter of the war party, all chuchely muchely with the finance guys, open to bribes and would do what he was told - and hey, he might even appeal to those workers in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan who hated Hillary.
Well, maybe Romney could be the guy. Get Trump out of the way, on treason or something, and let’s go all the way to get Romney in there. Or maybe Bloomberg. Aw phooey.
