Democrats may go left in 2020 against Trump
The Wilson Times ^ | September 1, 2019 | Gary Pearce

Posted on 09/01/2019 3:31:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Every four years, in every presidential race, Democrats have a war between moderates and liberals. Most every time, a moderate wins.

This may be contrary to conventional wisdom. But you can look it up.

Look at every contested nomination since 1960, when John F. Kennedy beat Hubert Humphrey, through 2016, when Hillary Clinton beat Bernie Sanders. Yes, even 2008, when Barack Obama was more moderate than Clinton and John Edwards.

Think Jimmy Carter, who liberals didn’t like in 1976 and who beat Ted Kennedy in 1980. Think Bill Clinton, who ran as a “New Democrat” — i.e., “Not Liberal.”

Even nominees who got tagged as liberals in the fall campaign had beaten more liberal Democrats. Michael Dukakis beat Richard Gephardt and Jesse Jackson in 1988. John Kerry beat Howard Dean in 2004.

In fact, only twice did the most liberal candidate win the nomination — George McGovern in 1972 and Walter Mondale in 1984. Both times, Democrats were devastated in November.

But, in 2020, Democrats may well nominate a real liberal to run against President Trump.

For the first time, the Gallup Poll says, a majority of Democrats identify themselves as liberals. That number has been rising steadily for years, from 25% in 1994 to 29% in 2002 to 40% in 2010 to 51% today.

they’d better find a sane, non-leftist candidate

The president call these RATS communists during his last rally.

He needs to keep calling them communists because that’s exactly what they are.

If they deny it (which they won't) he just asks "what aspect of communism do you disagree with?"

Past elections have been about how to run the country.

2020 is about whether or not to have one.

Every Democrat presidential candidate believes that the USA should end as a sovereign country, replaced by some sort of border-less open zone, where each and every one of the earth’s seven billion inhabitants has an absolute right to live.

I’ve encountered more than a few lefties who think the Clintons are right of center.

Ain't that the truth! The Democrat presidential candidates, squabbling over government "freebies" and which part of the economy to nationalize first, look like a bunch of Lenin & Trotsky clones, debating Marxist ideology. In reality, they're pushing tax-slavery for every American, from here on out...

While I agree it looks that way, since roughly 20 out of the 20 announced candidates have positioned themselves hard-left, my prediction is now that NONE of the announced candidates wind up on the ballot. I base it on the now-very difficult rules of winning on the first ballot and that they’re so far off in Left field that there’s no way to come back towards the center.

Instead the Dems will nominate someone else, possibly AlGore, Manchin, Kerry, or maybe even Skunk Cabbage again.

The DNC Convention will be a show to not miss!!!

I certainly hope so too. No worries, though. They can’t stop themselves from lurching left because they are that stupid.
