1956: the year the democrats lost touch with reality
steemit ^

"In 1952, the democrats ran Adlai E. Stevenson against Dwight Eisenhower for president of the United States. That is, they ran a leftist schlamozzle whose own mother might or might not recognize him if she hadn’t seen him in four days, against the man who had just saved the world from Nazism..."

During the campaign, a supporter called out, “Governor Stevenson, all thinking people are for you!”

Adlai Stevenson answered, “That’s not enough. I need a majority.”

That was his “basket of deplorables” moment.

Stevenson was beloved by the left and the press and presented by them as a deep thinker. Eisenhower was thought to be a bumbling fool (yes, he managed D-Day, but have you ever heard him speak?) It’s kind of like how the press sometimes tries to paint President Trump as lazy. Yes, seems to never sleep and he has managed to undo in 2 1/2 years what it took Obama 8 years to accomplish, but have you read some of his tweets?

Dems lost touch with reality in 1829.

Founded 1828.

so in 1956, the Democrats lost touch with reality?

I think the same thing happened in 1972 with McGovern.

Will the same happen in 2020?

Maybe periodically, the Democrats go full force like that?

But if so, the bad news is, the Democrats rebound from such defeats.

After Stevenson’s two landslide defeats by Ike, JFK got the Democrats back in the White House four years later.

After the debacle of 1972, the Democrats regrouped and Jimmy Carter won back the Oval office for the Democrats.

While I hope and pray about this coming election year, I do wonder what of the future, and what’s going to happen in 2024 and beyond.

If DJT and and the USSC don’t force changes in the voting system in the SocDem cities i don’t see how Trump won’t “lose” the election. The Democrat cities can engineer a 40 state wipeout easily enough simply by doing what they did in several states in 16 and 18 and might have succeeded with had they not been plagued by incompetence in Florida-Palm Beach County.

Interesting the electoral map of the 1956 election shows all the states the Illinois liberal Stevenson won were in the south which at the time was controlled by conservative Democrats trying to hold onto a segregated society. Stevenson couldn’t even win his home state.

Southern Democrats, obeying their Republican hating grandparents with Civil War aftermath memories, actually facilitated the today’s dominance of the Democrat party by the liberal northeast and west coast urban areas. In another decade the Democrats would capture the southern black vote, and destroy segregation, under a southern democrat president, Lyndon Johnson. The southern whites, who voted for Stevenson in 1952 and 1956, would switch to the GOP in 1969.

Today the GOP hold on the south is threatened by the influx of northeastern liberals moving into the southern states combined with the solid black democrat vote and the influx of immigrants across the southern border. For a conservative party to hold the south (or capture other states) it must convert a large segment of the Hispanic vote (2nd and 3rd generation immigrants) or the black vote. This is what drives the “moderate” policies of the Bush family, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Karl Rove and other establishment leaders.

JFK got into the WH due to transparent vote shenanigans in Texas and Illinois. Nixon refused to challenge the results “for the good of the country.”

“After Stevenson’s two landslide defeats by Ike, JFK got the Democrats back in the White House four years later.”

Fraudulently, by means of, e.g., dead people voting in alphabetical order.

I don’t think a demonrat has been elected without fraud since then.

[Adlai Stevenson]

There was a Happy Days episode (one of the few that I saw) where Ron Howard's character supported Adlai Stevenson. A bit of foreshadowing reality. What with his idiotic support of the Lying Kenyan. No I never actually saw the "jump the shark" episode. Except for a clip on YouTube

“...and half the US population with them.”

Only half the eligible population votes, and only half of them vote demon.

Half of a half is a quarter.

The GOP should have been dipping into that non-voting half. It is not for nothing that they are known as “the Stupid Party.”

It looks like Southerners had started to figure out the situation in 1964, by the looks of the electoral map

The dems have never restored their touch with reality. It’s now the party of reparations, “take Whitey’s money,” guaranteed universal income, “free” college, loss of national identity, open borders, suppression of Christianity and promotion of *slam.

1956. The year I was born. Mmmm? An omen, a portent of their impending doom? I hope it was.

We'll see next year just how far the madness has infected the US electorate. The choice is easy:

1. A man of towering intellect, puissance, and benevolence, who loves America, believes in the American Dream, who has made the US economy BOOM!, and whose motto is Make America Great

and

2. A gang of anti-Americans, who hate the USA and consider it to be an evil, racist, nazi nation that must be destroyed, who call for open borders to that end, who support the burning of the American flag, and whose policies will destroy the US economy.

What's scary is that the US news media, education system, entertainment and sports industry, and half the US electorate actually support the gang of anti-Americans.

He managed to tragically kill a girl through an accidental discharge with a rifle at a birthday party when he was a boy, iirc. At least the barefoot Missouri hick rubes in flyover Jesusland knew how to handle a weapon.

And maybe Dewey really did defeat Truman. Check for voting fraud. Those democrats have been at this crap for a long, long time.
