Former Vice President Joe Biden said Tuesday that he would not be seeking the presidency if it weren’t for the white supremacist violence that occurred in Charlottesville in August 2017 and President Donald Trump’s response to it.
At a fundraiser in Richmond, about an hour east of Charlottesville, Biden said he had been prepared to re-enter private life after forgoing a run against Hillary Clinton in 2016.
“I had not planned on running for the presidency,” Biden said. “And I mean that sincerely.”
Biden said his calculation changed “when those folks came out of the fields carrying those torches, chanting the anti-Semitic bile and their veins bulging, accompanied by the Ku Klux Klan, with such ugliness.”
“I never thought I’d see something like that again in my life. That’s when I decided,” Biden said.
Since Trump said there were “very fine people” on both sides of the Charlottesville rally, Biden said, his rhetoric has “gotten worse.”

He’s slightly more “woke” than Archie Bunker, and that isn’t going to fly with at least 30-40% of the Democrat party.
I’ll bet he made the decision when the families of Charlottesville visited him in the White House in 2017.
I keep hoping that some ambitious young reporter would actually do a real expose of what happened in Charlottesville Va. The original permit to assemble was issued to a small number of residents that wanted to protest the removal of a cherished statue of Robert E. Lee in their park. The media then publicized this leading to the piling on of Antifa and Neo-Nazis wackjobs none of whom actually had a permit to be there. Instead of protecting the citizens of Charlottesville the incompetent local police chief conspired with the governor, Terry McAulife to provoke a police riot by directing the two groups into a confined area thus leading to the violence and death of a young woman. Trump’s condemnation of the violent groups is well documented but ignored by Biden who is apparently basing his campaign on an well debunked lie. Maybe some people will fall for this pandering but I hope the true story eventually surfaces during the election assuming he actually gets the nod.
Was Northam there? Did he and Joe wear blackface for yucks? Did they kill a black newborn baby for yucks and cheers from the UVA / VCU crowd?
By the way... the University of Virgina and Virginia Commonwealth University are the biggest abortion providers in Virginia. Their hospitals. Nice, hunh.
They are going to ride that lie forever. It shifts the narrative. The only responce to someone who starts in on Charlottesville is “liar”, and then move on.
Yes he is running against Trump based on a proven lie about what trump actually said.
