Ohio Dem Party chair: Trump's 'rambling rallies' are fun for some, but he's 'underwater' in state
Fox News ^ | August 2, 2019 | David Montanaro

Responding to President Trump's Cincinnati rally, Ohio's Democratic Party chairman said Friday on "America's Newsroom" that promises to Ohioans have not been kept and that's why Trump's poll numbers are lagging in the state.

David Pepper argued that Trump made "very specific" promises to Ohio voters about jobs and infrastructure in 2016, but questioned the results.

"The truth is, what he didn't talk about last night was all those promises. He can't talk about them because he's broken them all," said Pepper, accusing Trump of "doing nothing about" the closure of a General Motors plant in Lordstown.

Yeah - he’s so underwater that his rallies bring 10x the number of people the Dems bring out.

But then the Dems control the ballot boxes.

Isn’t that a distinction without a difference?

Have you taken a look at who’s running the new company?

Nuff said.

I expect Trump to win Ohio by double digits this time around, since he has delivered on the jobs/trade front better than any president in my lifetime. He almost won Ohio by double digits last time and will certainly improve on that in 2020. I don’t even think we should look at Ohio as a swing state now. It’s already a done deal (well, unless there’s some sort of crazy catastrophe in the meanwhile).

“David Pepper argued that Trump made “very specific” promises to Ohio voters about jobs and infrastructure in 2016, but questioned the results.”

When you start using words like specific and questioned in your so called rebuttal it’s an admission you’re losing the argument. This moron Pepper can’t cite statistics to back up his words. Working class people in Ohio and the midwest aren’t gonna get squat from the Democrats, but sadly some of them never learn at all.

I listened to his interview on Fox. It wasn’t an interview, it was a speech.

Trump won OH in 2016 by 8+ points—-almost double what I had him at. He has since gained.

Ohio unemployment rate - June 2016: 5.1%
Ohio unemployment rate - June 2019: 4.2%

I agree with David Pepper, Trump has done nothing for Ohio! /sarc

Personally, I think the polls are unreliable when it comes to Trump.

1. Some people are reluctant (for whatever reason) to admit they will vote for him
2. Others just have a FOAD attitude toward pollsters and will lie to them
3. I am convinced some polls are biased to begin with. Lots of MSM outlets want to make Trump look unpopular

What else is a Democrat clown going to claim?

Nonsense. OH was never “in play” for the Dems in 16 and it isn’t “in play” for them now.

He won the state by 8 points in 16, he is in no risk of losing in next November.. in fact he’ll likely win it by double digits next fall.

The Dems will point to the closed Lordstown Chevy plant and talk about all those jobs that are gone, ignoring the fact that the Cruze was not selling.

And they will not mention the return of the steel industry and the growth in the energy sector helped by the Trump tariffs and regulation roll backs.

I feel a whole lot more confident of Ohio going for Trump in 2020 then I did in ‘16.

Trump had big rallies in 2018 before the Dims took control of the House of Representatives with 43 new victories too. And radical left Dims almost won against conservative Trump supporters in Florida, Georgia, and Texas.

The man had impressive coattails in local elections in 2018.

Hopefully, they won’t be quite as “impressive” in 2020.
