Before any of them takes the debate stage on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 2020 Democratic candidates will already have put in dozens of hours each preparing. But heres what they need to understand: Nothing they do to prepare for the primary debates will feel remotely similar to when the nominee faces Donald Trump in a debate.
My perspective on this is unique: I was assigned the role of playing Trump during Hillary Clintons general election debate prep in 2016. His stand-in. Her sparring partner. The ball machine. Over 17 years of working for her, Ive argued with and annoyed Hillary plenty. But this time, I was supposed to. And without question, she did the debates right. They were her most successful three days between the high of accepting the nomination and the low of Election Day.
To prepare myself for her grueling debate prep, I watched the 15 Republican primary debates and forums in which Trump participated three times each: once the whole way through; a second time focusing entirely on the exchanges he was part of; a third time with the sound off to watch his mannerisms and body language. I might know his debating styleif you want to call it thatbetter than anyone on the planet (aside from Hillary Clinton, of course). These are the qualities that make Trump such a tough opponent in a debate, despite the fact that he is possibly the worst debater in presidential history. If Democrats are serious about nominating a candidate who can beat Trump, these are also the qualities that their nominee should be able to respond toand how. What better time to start figuring that out than now?

How did that work out for Phillipe "The Soyboy Front Hole" Reines again?
You’re probably right on the money.
it takes a better candidate to beat Trump and there is none.at 6 foot 5, de Blasio would tower above Trump. (Watching the Republican debates, it seemed to me Jeb Bushs height advantage unnerved Trump.)Actually, a video shows Bush had a disadvantage, and it unnerved him.
Theres a first time for everything, they say - but no one without the title of governor has ever defeated a sitting presidents reelection bid. There are two or three governors in the Democrat presidential pack - but theyre not socialist enough to get any traction so far. None have big time name recognition, to date.
Someone else posted it on FR yesterday. Im copying. But I love that word. I picture dems all peeing backwards on themselves. I cant really picture what that means, other than pee-soaked dems is descriptive of their brains.
Reines is a frothing at the mouth #NeverTrumper. Only he can attend a Trump rally and fail to see the cheerful citizens who are pleased with PDJT’s Presidency. Sad to be so full of hate.
You ask yourself, can you see this person as the President.
Trump is already the President.
