The Trump campaign is considering putting resources into Oregon, CNN has learned, a state where Hillary Clinton beat the President by 11 percentage points in 2016.
In fact, Oregon is so blue that it has not voted for a Republican for president since 1984. But the Trump campaign is flush with cash and is looking for ways to spend its money and time wisely while Democrats duke it out for the chance to run against President Donald Trump.
CNN obtained a memo to the Trump campaign from pollster Tony Fabrizio about ideas for "expanding the map" to give the President more options for getting the 270 electoral votes needed to win the re-election, where he mentions looking at Oregon.
In the memo, Fabrizio maintains that New Hampshire, New Mexico and Nevada -- all states that Trump lost in 2016 -- are now "highly competitive." Those are three states where the Trump campaign already has resources on the ground.
Same goes for Minnesota, another state where Clinton beat Trump in 2016, but Fabrizio says to "keep an eye on" this cycle.
Oregon, however, is no-man's-land for the national GOP. The last Republican to make an early play for Oregon was George W. Bush during his 2004 reelection bid, since he had come within 8,000 votes of Al Gore there in 2000. But Bush lost Oregon to John Kerry by 4 percentage points.
Still, a senior Trump campaign source tells CNN that they are considering hiring staff to "test the waters" in Oregon after hearing from Fabrizio and talking to National Republican Congressional Committee counterparts. The committee is also hoping to recruit a strong GOP candidate to challenge longtime Democratic Rep. Peter DeFazio.

When Trump visits liberal strongholds his rallies are still large, but the local cops stand down and allow the left to surround the event and hassle attendees like brownshirts fresh out of the munich beer hall. The mayhem that occurred in Alb NM is a good example.
Where can I find that documentary?
What the Trump campaign needs to start doing with their cash is pushing the narrative to conservatives in blue states that their vote DOES count in the age of liberals attempting to destroy the Constitition, ie. The National Popular Vote initiative. It would be extremely funny if non-voting Republicans in Wash-Ore-Calif turned out and flipped the natioanl popular vote total so that those states had to pledge their elector to DJT!
Force Democrats to spend money and resources on their firewalls. With all the great ads the Democrats gave the GOP over the last two years, at least 100 different commercials could be created and played in those states.
Trump lost California by 4.3 million votes in 2016. There haven't been that many minds changed in since then.
Yes the way to win a state is to do away with the First Amendment. Good plan.
Make sure not to use the Oregon GOP or you will have rainbow flags around your campaign.
Howard Dean’s “50 State strategy”(he was hardly the first, of course), of making the other side defend everywhere, can be really effective but only if you have the resources to pull it off. Residents of deep blue and deep red states sometimes really resent their vote being taken for granted; and even if the Presidential candidate still carries it, the other side can make unexpected gains in Congress and the states.
“Good for you. Nice to know some areas of the states remain more tolerant. I would never try that over here. Not leaving it alone in a big Safeway Grocery lot. Too many busybodies from Greenbrae, Tiberon and Kentfield.”
We live in southern Oregon, having evacuated from Marin 25 years ago. Enjoying the solid conservative base that 31 counties exhibit out of the total of 36. Oregon could go to Trump!
Me too. Make the Democrat Presidential Candidates run against California. Basically, “If you like what you see in California, vote Democrat.” Pictures of illegals crossing the border, homeless camps, business leaving the state, etc.
Ha...I have a Trump sticker on my back window, and I’m in the city where the new Oregon State GOP office is...
What ARE you talking about? I’ve missed that.
You don’t remember the first commercial the Repub Governor candidate sent saying he is more pro abortion and homosexual marriage than the Dem? Basically said he didn’t want the Christian vote which had to be from the GOP handlers.
You live in Baker City?
If the Trump Oregon HQ is anywhere near Portland (like Seattle, but on shrooms), not only should they have the bulletproof glass and the security cameras, but probably also armed guards with Ma Deuce’s behind sandbag walls.
Those Portland Antifags are V-I-O-L-E-N-T.
I remember...but don’t believe it was from his STATE GOP handlers...more likely the campaign staff... I met one (and the candidate )...NOT impressed with either
Same here. Id love to see President Trump hold 10,000 people rallies in all of those states, but particularly California. If nothing else, I think it would panic the Democrats into spending assets in a sure state. He might not win, but he would have forced them to pee away money they might have spent in a red state.
Then again, you just dont know many Republicans, or people who think like them, who have said To Hell with it and previously not voted. They might come out of the closet and maybe elect a Representative or two down ballot - every extra one would help.
Thank you!
