Democratic senator says McCain listed off names of dictators during Trump inaugural

The late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) listed off the names of dictators while watching President Trump's inauguration, according to Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).

HuffPost reported that during a campaign event in Iowa, the 2020 Democratic presidential contender told the crowd of more than 200 about sitting next to McCain and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) during Trump's inaugural address.

“I sat on that stage between Bernie and John McCain, and John McCain kept reciting to me names of dictators during that speech because he knew more than any of us what we were facing as a nation,” she said. “He understood it. He knew because he knew this man more than any of us did.”

The new story from Klobuchar adds to a list of extensive criticism from McCain, who was one of few Republican senators to regularly oppose the president.

Trump and McCain feuded on and off before the senator's death, and Trump has repeated his criticism of the late Arizona lawmaker even after his funeral.

In March, Trump ramped up his criticism of McCain, accusing him of handing a dossier of explosive claims about Trump’s ties to Russia to the FBI for “very evil purposes.”

At the time, he told reporters, “I was never a fan of John McCain, and I never will be.”

He also complained about not receiving a “thank you” for approving funeral arrangements for McCain, despite his dislike for the former senator. McCain was memorialized at Washington’s National Cathedral last fall, and Trump was not invited to attend.

I reluctantly voted for Bush #41 in 1992, but that was it for me and Rs until DJT. I’ll work to help him & the Rs in 2020, but after that I’ll play it by ear given the history of the GOPe and my age.

When I’m feeling down and blue, I just think about where John McCain is now, hanging with his buds in Satan’s Choir in the Lake of Fire, and suddenly I feel better and the sun seems to shine a little bit brighter.

The left keeps shifting the yard markers. One day he’s colluding with Russians. The next is he’s obstructing justice. Now he must be removed from office because he’s steering America towards a dictatorship! They’re throwing everything to the wind and hope something sticks to Trump’

I’m done with the GOPe. What’s infuriating
is that I can’t seem to donate to re-elect
the President without a portion going to the
RNC, which I despise.

John McCain was more of a threat to us that most of these dictators. And he supported dictators who toed the NeoCon line.

Amy Klobuchar hears what she wants to hear, even if it might not have been an audible dog whistle to anybody else.

Did the perfidious McCain really recite those names? and if so, in what context?

John McCain did the President no favors, EVER, even early on in his bid for the Presidency, and Donald Trump picked up on this very quickly.

Now, perhaps Donald Trump never served in any capacity with the military as a young man, and people may question the reason he was given an exemption from the draft. John McCain had no such benefit arching over him, he was the son and grandson of Naval admirals. If anything, he was a sort of “legacy admission” to the US Naval Academy, to which he responded by being one of the less illustrious graduates of his graduating class (which he only barely managed to do). One suspects that Midshipman McCain was finally allowed to graduate because of the “legacy”, not because he was particularly motivated. The equivalent of “affirmative action”, in terms of the quality of the education absorbed.

This lack of personal industrious ambition was to dog McCain all his life. Donald Trump saw this defect of character clearly, and called McCain out on it when McCain obliquely attacked Trump as a “phony” and a “playboy”.

We all knew what Senator John McCain was without Amy Klobuchar telling us. He was a first class sleezeball and a traitor to the Republican party.

How facile of her; she managed to use a Republican to trash President Trump, while also throwing that same Republican under the bus, in effect insulting Republican Trump fans and Republican Trump haters, alike! Just what we’d need -— a vindictive, backstabbing president, who uses a double-edged knife./s

Every day there is another reason to thank God that John McCain is finally dead and can’t hurt America any more. This is just another one of them.
