Biden tears into Trump at Pittsburgh campaign kickoff

PITTSBURGH — In his first official event as a 2020 presidential candidate, Joe Biden skipped past the primary on Monday and went right to the general election.

From the atmospherics of his first campaign rally to the substance of his speech, the former vice president delivered a carefully calibrated message: While his rivals are chasing the Democratic nomination, Biden plans to pursue a mission focused on Donald Trump.

“If I’m going to be able to beat Donald Trump in 2020, it’s going to happen here,” Biden told a packed crowd at the Teamsters Local 249 banquet hall.

Biden offered an economic message tailored for western Pennsylvania, where he praised organized labor and denigrated Wall Street CEOs and companies that used the Trump tax cuts to buy back stocks while laying off workers. He singled out the president by name, and at other times made implicit references that left no question about whom he was talking about.

“Donald Trump is the only president who has decided not to represent the entire country. We need a president who will work for all Americans,” Biden said, standing in front of a sign that read Biden Works for America.

He can’t represent an entire country when half are crybaby treasonous rats that don’t get along with anything.

Those tending to be kind say up to 150 attended:

C-Span made the mistake of going wide angel when Biden was shaking hands :)

ABC nightly reported on the rally.

They showed the line of people waiting to get in (maybe 15 to 20). I got the feeling this was a lame attempt to compare the lines for Trump rallies to this event for Biden.

The event looked like it was held at a small union hall.

They didn't even bother to pan around to show the size of the venue or the number of people who attended.

It sounded like a pet peeve of his, or something some other liberal wonk convinced him to say. Biden’s always been a fool and a tool.

Another odd thing he brought up was non compete agreements, which he claimed stop workers from switching fast food jobs. I find that highly unlikely.

He railed against companies too. Speech was idiotic and boring.

I don’t think non compete agreements are the thing with fast food workers. Union scare tactics. He’ll probably campaign on mandatory union membership.

“Donald Trump is the only president who has decided not to represent the entire country. We need a president who will work for all Americans,”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quite the opposite.
We had FOUR in a row who put fraudulently documented foreigners ahead of the citizens and refused to uphold the laws and protect the country or the citizens.
We FINALLY have a President that sides with the citizens and the rule of law.
I must respectfully disagree. The older blue collar workers in the rust belt states, they are listening (that’s my back yard). Those workers tipped their states to Trump in 2016. But they like Biden. And it’s no coincidence that Biden picked blue collar Pittsburgh for this rally.
Mr. Trump, pay attention here.
Did you hear him poo poo the Stock Market record highs as for rich & have nothing to do with the people in the room?
These are union people with union pensions. They get quarterly statements. They know exactly how well their pensions are doing under President Trump.
What a stupid thing to say.
Just scream TRUMP or RED WAVE and everything will be fine.
Apparently that's how it works.
The blue collar guys I know mostly went for Trump in 2016. So Trump won my rust belt state...narrowly. Those guys went for Trump because of two promises Trump made:
1. I’ll bring industry back to America.
2. I’ll secure the southern border.
Well, neither of those two promises materialized. Maybe the rest of America is doing great. But in my neck of the woods, the empty factories are still empty. And the southern border is still unsecured.
So if Trump thinks he can take my state again, he’s dreaming.
But their is one escape valve. if the Democrats nominate an out-and-out commie, Trump still has a chance. Blue collar guys don’t like communists.
However, if the Democrats nominate a centrist like Biden, my blue collar friends will revert to their old habits. They will vote Democrat.
