[history]
Sen. Steve Daines says he'll return to Washington D.C. by private jet on his daughter's wedding day if his vote is needed to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
The Montana Republican said in a statement to The Associated Press that his Republican colleague, Montana congressman Greg Gianforte, "has come to save the day" by offering him use of his private jet.

We’ve had things for years that make the SR-71 look like a Sopwith Camel.

Senator, I suggest you fly into Richmand and drive the rest of the way ... I’m guessing there will be ‘accidents’ that shut down BWI and Dulles tomorrow afternoon.

Poor guy, what a place to be in but WHAT A PATRIOT!!!!
Somehow I can’t believe his family and his daughter wouldn’t support him. I would picture them as selfless patriots themselves.
If he has to do this, he and his family will be HEROES to a HUGE number of people.

Probably a couple of fighter jets flying at a very high altitude as not to be seen by the naked eye. Well, that in addition to a couple visible to the naked eye so as to dissuade anyone from thinking they could take an easy shot.
Actually, in addition to an escort, I was thinking more about preflight tampering and mechanical issues.

Who's to say the Dems can't come up with some crazy scheme where it looks like his vote isn't needed until it's too late for him to get back here. I saw a comment where the Rs said they would hold the vote open until he got back if he was needed. Can Grassley hold the vote open indefinitely or is there a time limit? So many arcane rules of order that I can't keep up, forgive me..

"IF needed"? Are they kidding?
You never know when deals will be made, spines will go soft, and votes will be flipped.
YES, his vote is most needed.

Aurora does not exist - the Air Force told us so. Pay no attention to the Aviation Week photos.

There are no functional SR-71’s.
They have all been made into museum pieces.
There is one at the Virginia Aviation Museum.

Part of being a US Senator is putting the nation above an important but unnecessary family obligation. No reason they couldn't have the reception without him and put off the ceremony until he's available.
Sorry, but it's selfish, and it's endemic of everything that is wrong with the US Senate.
