Jimmy Carter: To beat Trump, Dems cannot scare off moderates
KIRO-TV ^ | September 11, 2018 | Bill Barrow, The Associated Press

Former President Jimmy Carter is cautioning Democrats that their path to defeating President Donald Trump depends on independents and moderates.

Speaking at his presidential center in Atlanta on Tuesday, Carter said U.S. policies on immigration, the environment and human rights will not improve while Trump is in office.

Carter also noted polls showing independents souring on the Republican administration....

Christ wants Islam to destroy Israel? Why is that?

...”This guy is still alive but we lost Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford?”...

I think that Jimmy is a moral and good man, but, wow, he is truly ignorant concerning the tyranny of the socialism the Democrats are now trying to set up in this country. Socialism always ends in mass death, which comes from State sponsored murder or starvation and other forms of death from not having basic needs met. Those who are trying to overturn our Republic are not really members of any political party, as they pretend. They are out to satisfy their lust to corner all the wealth and power in the world for themselves which requires the enslavement of the total population outside the walls the elites put around themselves. History is plain spoken about the cruel nature of man/womankind without God and we are heading to some “Old Testament,” wars in the world if good people do not have the courage to stand up against what is happening right under our noses. I am shocked every time I see an elite actor/actress from Hollywood trying to incite the assassination of our President, without any consequences to them. That is the same as encouraging shootings and murder of any other kind. This culture is dripping with evil. I pray we wake up.

Jimmah”s senility has gotten to the point he doesn’t realize the Party in question cannot stand anything less than full blown left extremists

I’m as right-wing as they come, but your comments are ridiculous. Come on, man.

Check the other responses I got and you'll find that you're probably in the minority here on FR.The damage that both McStain and Jimmah have done to this country deserves a very clear, powerful and unpleasant response.

Moderates? What moderates?

There are “moderates” in the Democrat party. These are voters who signed up as a Democrat when they first became eligible to vote and never paid any attention to politics since.

What President Carter is saying is that the 24/7 Trump hate is waking these voters up. They are looking at what the Democrat party has become and are deciding that perhaps they are in the wrong party and they are walking away.

President Trump is actually opening up the BIG TENT not by pandering to special interest but to the patriotism the dwells in most of us.

He does not sneak behind closed doors with special interest and tell them what he will do just for them and then to another group and promise them something completely different.

No! He stands at the podium in a room or stadium open to all and says what he is going to do for America. He you support him, welcome to the party. If not, he blesses their heart and then ignores them.

The left has unleashed a beast to destroy President Trump not realizing that it will soon turn on them when it is clear it is not able to reach President Trump

Jimmy Carter (and I thing Bill Clinton) understands this but are not able to reign in insanity now that beast has been unleashed.

He does have an engineering degree.

But he has NEVER served Christ in his entire political career as far as I know. He is a democrat. Pro abortion, pro sexual perversion, anti-family, anti-America.

You cannot be a democrat and a Christian (the goals of the two are incompatible). This has been true since at least lyndon johnson’s regime.

Well, a little late for that after the way Dems have been behaving. In the last week we have the Kavanaugh hearings and a switchblade attack just to name a few of the scary democrat actions.

A normal person would be scared to death to put these people in power over them.

"Yes, hindsight is 20/20. We should have allowed the Soviets to take Afghanistan..."

That would make for an interesting alternate history novel. In some ways, Afghanistan did unfold as Reagan had hoped - as the USSR's Vietnam, overextending the Soviet military and hastening its bankruptcy. What would have come of things had we not backed the mujahadin? The Soviet economy was near collapse just trying to compete with SDI and it probably would have collapsed anyways. Had we kept our fingers out of the Afghan pie, would the Soviets have had another Chechnya on its hands with 9/11 type strikes aimed at Moscow instead of NYC and DC? Did our Stingers in some small way keep bin Laden from being killed by a Soviet airstrike? Lots to ponder how things might have unfolded. Thanks for the thought experiment!

**I was 8 yrs old when Carter’s only response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was an Olympic boycott; not to mention the 144 captives in Iran under the mullahs.**

He also embargoed grain to Russia. The unsold grain sitting in farmers storage was worth 25% less a few days later. I knew several dem farmers that voted for Reagan after that.

When Jimnah barely got elected And my parents told me about it the next day I was 13 years old. I remember tearing up cause I couldn't believe it and asking my parents what does a peanut farmer from Georgia know about running a country? He only got elected because Nixon was a crook, Ford was a clutz and now we have a mormon for a replacement.

Several years later, I think I was 16 then my parents and I were listening to the Presidental speech where this @$$clown was sitting in front of blazing fire with a sweater on telling me that our economy was suffering a malaise and it was permanent. There was nothing to be done and we should just get used to the fact that the next generation was going to be worse off than their parents for the first time in our history. I turned around and looked at my parents and said thanks mom and dad. Why do you "adults" keep voting dumba$$es like this guy. He's basically telling me I've been set up to fail.

Then a year later I saw a debate with a guy named Ronald Reagan and laughing when he said "Well, there you go again...." The look on Jimmah Cot-tahs face was priceless. It was the same look I'd seen on GHW Bush's face earlier during the primaries and hope welled up inside me like never before....it's the same feeling I had with Trump.

Jimmy, the Scoop Jackson/Ella Grasso Dems are as extinct as the Dodo, they are replaced by Bernie Sanders/AOC/Maxine Waters of the Democrat Party (Who are dodos).

...the Scoop Jackson/Ella Grasso Dems are as extinct as the Dodo...

I cast my first vote ever for Scoop Jackson in the Michigan primary in 1972 and, again, in the Michigan primary in 1976, although I ended up voting for Nixon and Ford in the general elections.

That was the last time that I ever cast any sort of ballot for a Democrat ...

I voted 4 times for Democrats 1) Ella Grasso, a family friend, 2) Joe Lieberman, instead of LP Weicker, 3) a friend for Town council in my hometown and 4) a state representative in my hometown who was very conservative instead of a RINO running...

3 of the Dems I voted for were friends of mine (Ella's husband was my elementary school principal), my friend running for Town council been my best friend from childhood and the state Representative became the president of the local business group. Lieberman I voted for because Weicker was a moron...and a RINO.
