Welcome to Pollapalooza, our weekly polling roundup.
Poll of the week
A new Texas Senate poll came out this week showing Democratic Rep. Beto ORourke within 1 point of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. It gave new life to a familiar question: Could Texas finally flip blue? Normally, this would be the point where we lecture everyone about the dangers of putting too much stock in one poll. But this poll wasnt even much of an outlier it came on the heels of a few others that also show ORourke within a few points of Cruz. Thats an awfully close race for a state that President Trump won by 9 points in 2016. Is it time to start betting on a Democrat in Texas?
We still say you should hold onto your chips.
OK, first the new survey: Emerson Colleges poll of registered voters, conducted online and through robo-calls, reported 38 percent support for Cruz and 37 percent for ORourke, well within the polls 4-point margin of error. About a fifth of respondents remained undecided.
Emerson was the sixth consecutive pollster in our database to find the Texas Senate race within single digits....

Why would we want anyone on the Supreme Court who thinks children born to one citizen parent in a foreign country are natural born citizens eligible to be President?
Anwar al-Awlaki’s kids, born in Yemen to one citizen parent, are not natural born citizens and neither is Ted Cruz.
Re: “Damaged candidates like Lyn’ Ted, Roy Moore, and others should drop out and let Trump Republicans take their place.”
Besides Jeff Sessions (LOL) and the recently fired EPA Director Scott Pruitt, I can’t think of any well known “Trump Republicans.”
Is 538 the same org that had hrc at a 71% chance to win in 2016? So why are we listening to them now???

Cruz damaged himself very badly while running for president. His attacks on candidate Trump have not been forgotten. Most importantly, his explanation of why he is a natural born citizen and is eligible to be president was not believable. One can attempt to argue the definition of natural born citizen but I think it's safe to say if you have to renounce your citizenship of from a foreign country it's doubtful you are a natural born citizen. Quite simply he lost credibility with that assertion. He has never been eligible to be President.
That being said we need him and we MUST reelect him to the senate. WE MUST REELECT THE SWAMP IN ORDER TO DRAIN THE SWAMP.
His middle name is Edward. That’s where Ted comes from.
His father’s name is Rafael, so that’s why.
A poll of registered voters, conducted ONLINE and with ROBO CALLS.
how can anyone take this poll seriously at all?
That's a good one
LMAO !
But they called Hillary’s victory landslide do accurately.
I truly hope this is how it plays out. If so than the SJW/’Human Rights’ regime will take a big hit globally and there will be a decent chance of turning the course of history away from destroying white European culture and populations for the benefit of a plutocratic globalist cabal and the mudslimes.
What are the reasons for the adopted or nicknames? I had one growing up, lost it as adult. I know people with them, others without them. No big deal overall. It is funny though when they do it for political reasons. Edward or Ted is more electable than Rafael, Robert is fine. Beto is apparently a childhood nickname that stuck.
Why are back on another cRuz thread...with your concern trolling?
Didn’t I ask you about your OWN state??
Go make sure Heller the Yeller gets elected and stop trolling cRuz threads, please.
You’re looking like a plant.
A dead car could beat Beto ORourke. Abortion Bobby is not winning in Texas.
“Doc Contrail held the hearings, initially defended them. Guess that is too inconvenient for you.”
She held hearings ASKED FOR by her constituents.
“Residents in small communities throughout western Arizona are continuing to press for a state investigation into the conspiracy theory that chemtrails, the condensation that lasts after a jet flies overhead, are dumping chemical or biological agents on their towns.
The widely debunked theory, first posited in the 1990s, was the subject of a meeting convened by Republican state Senator Kelli Ward, of Lake Havasu City, in which she called on members of the Arizona Department of Environmental quality to address the audience...
...State senator Ward felt that the issue had gained enough traction among her constituents (about 50,000 people make up Lake Havasu City) that a meeting was necessary to delve into the theories.
The people who are concerned about this, I did describe you as relentless, she told the audience of several dozen, according to the Arizona Republic. That is not a bad thing to be. Its not a good thing for me as an elected representative to ignore what many people in my district are concerned about. - 2014 article, includes a video of the meeting
She did NOT defend the contrail beliefs, but DID defend holding a meeting in front of her constituents to address THEIR concerns. She defended THE MEETINGS, not the CONCERN.
But then, I’ve pointed that out to you before, and you continue to spread lies. Because when you know the truth, and continue to make false accusations, it is a LIE.
A lie Juan McCain was very fond of telling! And I find it telling that you spread the same lie even after he is dead!
“And you think that Cuban-Canadian, and recently new American Cruz has any less a pedigree for school?”
First, Ted Cruz is an AMERICAN. One can argue if he qualifies to run for President or not. After Obama’s 8 years, I find worrying about it a waste of time. But he is undoubtedly an AMERICAN.
Second, Ted Cruz doesn’t run around PRETENDING he is Hispanic (he obviously is), nor does he PRETEND he is Lily White. He went to good schools and was a top lawyer.
But when you claim “Robert Francis ORourke, 4th generation Irish-American”, who is running around calling himself “Beto” and pretending to be Mr Super Hispanic is “real” and Cruz is a “liar”, you are either breathtakingly STUPID or a troll on FreeRepublic pushing for a liberal democrat to replace one of the most conservative members of Congress.
Why are you doing that? WHY DO YOU WANT A SOCIALIST PSEUDO-HISPANIC TO WIN?!
Why are you on FreeRepublic, trashing conservatives, sowing division, lying about conservatives, and promoting the more liberal candidates?
HMMMM??????
Not just Anwar al-Awlakis kids, we've also got Little Rubio, Nikki Haley, Kamala Harris, and many others. Not are constitutionally eligible for president.
Crizs Behavior during the 16 campaign was going to have a price...
I doubt hell lose when everything is said and done, but if he does it wont be fromTX turning blue as much as Cruz angering a decent bit of his base
A lifetime of fighting for Limited Government gets ignored by FAKE Conservatives, all because he opposed Trump in the Primaries. Pathetic.
Just want to add:
I strongly dislike Martha McSally in Arizona. HOWEVER, I’ll do anything I can to get her elected now that she has won the primary because she would still be far better than her democrat, bisexual opponent. But I’d be THRILLED if I could cast a Senate vote for Ted Cruz instead. He’d be light-years better than McSally.
Alas, in Arizona, my choice is McSally or Kyrsten Sinema - a hardcore leftist abortion loving bisexual tax-raising (”Raising taxes is more economically sound than cutting vital social services.”), anti-gun, open borders liberal who opposed using force to respond to the 9/11 terror attacks. She wanted us to SUE Bin Laden instead...
But if it was Ted versus Honest Robert Francis ORourke, I’d go with TED all the way!
Nobody who believes that Anwar al-Awlaki’s kids are eligible to be President can be described as an originalist.
The founders rejected “citizen at birth” in favor of the more restrictive “natural born citizen” specifically to exclude the children of foreign nationals.
If he is an originalist, then he knows he is not eligible and ran anyway because Obama got away with it.
