Democrats agree that Donald Trump’s history of bragging about groping and assaulting women is unacceptable, but they don’t agree about how to deal with it in 2020.
The tension has spilled into the open in the ongoing debate about Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s role in galvanizing Senate Democrats to call for Sen. Al Franken to step down over misconduct. Even white college-educated women, Hillary Clinton’s biggest supporters, are divided.
“We loved him,” Marsha Pearcy, 58, said sadly to Gillibrand at a private event for professional women in Washington on Tuesday night. Pearcy barely finished saying Franken’s name when quiet murmurs and palpable tension spread across the room of dozens of mostly white and mostly 20- and 30-something women.
At its core, the Franken controversy is about how Democrats believe their party should respond to #MeToo as they prepare to take on Trump in 2020. One faction wants to battle Trump on his turf, even if it means giving one of their own a pass on sexual misconduct. Trump doesn’t apologize for even worse. Why should Democrats? Ideals be damned. There’s too much at stake.
Another faction believes Democrats must do better — that they need to stand with women and clean house no matter who the offender is, even a popular liberal senator. These liberals think the future of the party is rooted in the women-led resistance and the energy that’s driven a record number of women to run for Democratic office this year....

I think they’ll more or less repeat the Obama plan, have a front runner in mind then break out either a minority female or someone open about being a Muslim. Mostly so they can double-down on the “hate” card.

Yes,, to a degree, and for two reasons. One, Obama ran as a smooth, friendly guy. He was overwhelmingly pushing that “no drama” thing. he was smart enough that you can’t scare whitey and also get his vote. Booker and Harris, and everyone else I can think of is pure anti-white anger...and that won’t sell.
The second reason is that Trump started out far better than any recent GOP candidate with blacks and is having increasing success. Dennis Rodman crying on TV that Trump listened to him when Obama wouldn’t. Good old Kanye helping out. Trump pardoning that black woman in for life because Kim Kardashian asked him. That kid a week ago making a big deal about being “off the democrat plantation”.
And if things keep going well with North Korea, I think that will actually help him with US blacks. They don’t care about foreign policy much, BUT, they will absolutely notice Trump willing to address the concerns of a social pariah and fix a systemic issue.
This is not the election for a democrat minority, Obama was a one time success, like hijacking airliners with box cutters.

I think they will come out with a non-threatening center/left white guy. Someone not contaminated by DC much. Hickenlooper in Colorado for example. He can pick a Harris or Booker as a veep maybe.
They have had weirdos too long. Hillary, Obama, etc. They’ll try to show America they can be trusted. Otherwise, they’ll crash in flames.
You might just be right about her being their nominee.
I think you make excellent points about the radical feminist minority being beatable and why, but not sure I buy that for a minority man who doesn’t give off those vibes. Maybe that would be hard to find in this climate. I guess we will see.
In any case I don’t think the male minority voter turns out for the minority female candidate.

It will be several election cycles before a Caucasian heads the Dem ticket again.
At 64 years old I may not live long enough to see a male Caucasian at the head of the dem ticket again.

The problem is looking for a man r woman or black or hispanic or whatever. They should try to find someone electable and run that person regardless of race or gender.
