U.S. Senator John McCain rebukes President Donald Trump in a new memoir, accusing his fellow Republican of failing to uphold U.S. values by showering praise on international tyrants, discrediting the media, ignoring human rights and demeaning refugees.
Flattery secures his friendship, criticism his enmity, wrote McCain in The Restless Wave, which he co-authored with longtime aide Mark Salter.
It is hard to know what to expect from President Trump, whats a pose, whats legitimate, McCain said in the book that is due to be released on May 22. An advance copy was sent to Reuters by publisher Simon & Schuster.
McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, remains one of the strongest voices in his party on foreign policy, despite a battle with brain cancer. He has been credited with championing civility and compromise in Congress during an era of acrid partisanship in U.S. politics.
The 81-year-old Arizona lawmaker, who has served in the Senate since 1987, has also been both a critic and target of Trump, who during his 2016 presidential campaign disparaged McCains war record by saying he was not a hero after enduring 5-1/2 years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam....

Trump never said any such thing, of course.

Does anyone have confirmation that the memoir was written by McCain? Anyone could say that at this point in McCain’s life.
How is his health? The last thing I remember of him conclusively was his thumbs down on the healthcare vote.

And what “American” valued have you up held John casting the deciding vote for keeping Obamacare out of spite, deliberately undermining President Bush for 8 years because you lost the 2000 GOP Primary and illegally getting the US militarily entangled in Libya and Syria just to feed your ego?

I would bet McCain had nothing to do with the writing of this ‘memoir’ except for authorizing the use of his name.

I still think that McCain voted for 0bama, because he certainly wasn’t in it to win it. He even let his own family and staff disparage Palin, who was actually trying to win.

All it seems to take to gain McCain’s favor is access to a news camera and some articles with his name in them.

COME ON, people! Maybe John was misquoted in the report.
I'll wait to see his quote in the original Vietnamese.

He has been credited with championing civility and compromise in Congress during an era of acrid partisanship in U.S. politics. This line is a joke. Right?
