Alabama Senate candidate Doug Jones's surging campaign is in danger of falling short in its must-reach goal of energizing African-American voters, the Washington Post reported.
"As of this day, I would say no," retired UPS worker Donald Williams told the Post about enthusiasm among black voters. "And this is Doug Jones's problem. He's got to get out and get the voters energized."
Amid a string of sexual misconduct allegations that've rocked the campaign of GOP candidate Roy Moore, the Jones camp believes he could pull off an unlikely victory if he can mobilize African-American voters, who make up about a quarter of Alabama's electorate and tend to vote heavily Democratic.
"Right now, many African Americans do not know there is an election on December 12," Democratic State Sen. Hank Sanders told the Post.
The Post reported that Democrats working on the race believe Jones must secure more than 90 percent of the black vote while boosting black turnout to 25 to 30 percent similar to levels that turned out for President Barack Obama....

You’re right, he should. But the uniparty would then call for his assassination.
They may not know the exact date, but I would bet they know an election is coming. I didn’t know the date of our last bond election till the week before. Why worry about the date as I knew whenever it was, I would be there voting.
Stereotype much?
I had never heard of Doug Jones until this race and I’m pretty political.
Hank Sanders is black.
“I hate to say it: A lot of people are apathetic about voting, because they don’t think their vote counts,” Or could it be with Black unemployment at a record low they just don’t want to willingly and peacefully go back to the Democrat plantation?
It might help with black turnout if he told everyone he was a democrat. You won’t see that tidbit of information in his commercials or his lawn signs. It’s like he doesn’t want anyone to know he’s a democrat.
Doug Jones defended a man with ties to the KKK. Why on earth would Blacks be energized to vote for him?
Im down in Mobile. Dont know Jones at alll except hes a flaming liberal, but going by his commercials low energy doesnt begin to describe him. I cant see anybody getting fired up to vote for this guy.
“Why would Alabama blacks want to go out of their way to vote for someone who wants the government to finance the murder of black babies?”
You’ve just described 90% of Democratic candidates for the last decade, all of whom got 90% of the black vote.
Yes, you notice that there are no black Democrat Senators.
Off season elections always have low voter turn out, and it does not matter if it’s a R or a D. I live 1 hr from Memphis, so I get their news. Memphis is a D black run city....and they don’t turn out in off season elections.
But the dead do still vote.
Two thoughts:
1) Perhaps when Alabama’s AA voters hear the big accusation against Moore — “dating” teenaged girls when he was in his thirties — they think, “Wait a minute — isn’t that normal?”.
2) They recognize a lynching when they see one.
