OHIO VALLEY — A clip of actress Martha Plimpton’s exuberance over the “best” abortion she has ever had played on the television above a gas-station counter somewhere along U.S. Route 422 between Ohio and Pennsylvania.
A woman with a name tag designating her as the manager rolled her eyes and said to no one in particular as she went about stacking the shelves behind the counter, “And they wonder why people don’t vote for Democrats around here anymore.”
Plimpton, age 46, is best known for her role in the 1980s Steven Spielberg classic kid adventure movie The Goonies. She made her remark in an interview with Dr. Willie Parker at a #ShoutYourAbortion event in Seattle in June.
Actions like Plimpton’s do not help the Democratic cause of reclaiming power and influence in Washington, D.C. — at least not with Main Street voters. Nor do they help Democrats win local races.
“Democrats used to debate the legal right to have one, and that was a point of view that was shared by most voters,” said Michael Wear, a theologically conservative evangelical Christian Democrat who served in Barack Obama’s faith outreach office in the White House. “I don’t understand why, 14 months before a midterm election, why would you push 20 percent of voters who would love to support Democrats out the door? Better yet, why would you speak of pro-life Democrats as though they were some extraterrestrial who just landed on Earth?”
It is rare for someone who has had an abortion to celebrate it — Plimpton seems to fail to understand that.....

I’ve been thinking all morning that we hadn’t heard from Martha Plimpton what with all the Weinstein stuff. Well, well, here she is but on abortion. She’s always been a strange fish but don’t know what the link to Catholics is. Who knew Catholics had the corner on anti-abortion? What, that’s like blacks have the corner on the n word.

The only “reason” that Hillary Clinton did not offer as a cause for her defeat was the whipping she took on the Catholic vote.
Since 1952 when it was first surveyed, the Catholic vote has been an absolutely perfect indicator of which candidate would win a presidential election.
In these elections no Republican that got at least 48% of the Catholic vote has ever lost; and no Democrat who has gotten less than 48% has ever won. Trump won the overall Catholic vote 53/46; that includes the welfare cheese rodents from south of the border who willing sold out their church to the Democrats. Without this drag on the numbers Trump would have won 60/40. If the Democrats keep this up, in 2020 Trump will win 74/25 among real Catholics and 57/42 overall because so many rodents will be leaving.

Guy I know is a devout Catholic and devout Democrat, mass every Sunday without fail. I asked him how he can support Democrats knowing that they stand for a major violation of his faith. His response - “Well, that’s just one thing”. My response - “That’s a pretty BIG thing, don’t you think?” Got no response.
