Democratic Rep. John Lewis said Thursday he sometimes feels like “taking a bullwhip” to people in order to make them care about civil rights.
“It doesn’t matter whether they’re black, or white, Latino, Asian-American or Native American. When you see something that’s not right, not fair, not just, you have an obligation to do something, to say something. They’re just too darn quiet. I really wanna use some other words sometimes,” Lewis told the audience of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Town Hall on Civil Rights in Washington, D.C.

“I believe in the philosophy and the discipline of nonviolence, but sometimes I feel like taking a bullwhip and just saying to people, ‘You get your butt up. You go out there and do what you must do,'” the Georgia congressman continued.
Lewis added that young people must become “fighters” and “warriors” for the cause of civil rights.
Activists “just need to be radical” and “extreme” in order to fight racism in the United States, Lewis opined.

“Old slavery” is gone. But Ds are hell-bent on a “do as the master says or you get the whip” society. First time I’ve heard them mention a literal whip, but not surprising.
Funny how he claims he fought against Racism and the KKK, then immediately after MLK jr was killed HE JOINED THEM!!

Today’s classic example of another insane lib off it’s meds.
That POS has absolutely no business being in Congress.
He represent no one but himself.

John Lewis is left wing as can be. I personally can't stand him. But he would never advocate violence.
To be fair, in the context of what he said, he is talking about using a bullwhip on people who he thinks agree with him but are too lazy to get off their butts and get involved.
If he wants to take a bullwhip to people he thinks agree with him but are lazy, I don’t see a problem with that. Perhaps those lethargic, brains-of-mush bleeding heart liberals he uses the whip on might get the idea that perhaps the malediction of “nazi” might fit people like this douchebag and other liberal Democrats better than it fits conservatives.
But his talk about making them radicals and warriors is more of an issue with me.

You are overthinking the issue. It really is this simple:
1. Everything a white person does - or thinks - is racist.
2. Nothing a non-white person does - or thinks - is racist.
In all seriousness, we are now at the start of a dangerous era in our country. Civil debate is no longer possible. The left has seen to that. One must either completely agree with the left, or be shouted down.

I don’t believe he’s talking about “us”, he want’s to whip his own supporters.
