The reaction in many quarters to Hillary Clintons reflective, candid assessment in her book, What Happened, of her devastating loss to Trump tells a lot about why she lost. Shes still being raked over the coals. Shes still called too guarded, not honest enough, too stiff, and even robotic. This fits in with the almost set-in-stone depiction of Clinton as cold, aloof, and totally unable to connect with real people.
This supposedly stands in stark contrast to Trump, who appeared to be the consummate people person who spoke the common man and womans language. Then theres the standard cherrypick at the most petty and sensationalist quip in What Happened. Thats the one where she says during her October 2016 debate with Trump, that he was a creepy guy who made her extremely uncomfortable. This makes it appear that Clinton is a trembling, terrified whiner and loser.
In truth, Clinton doesnt shrink from frank, straight-talk criticism of her and the campaigns missteps, spiced with important insights into what could and should have been done different. These are the kind of precious insights that are anything but woulda-coulda apologetics from a sore loser. They offer much of value for Democratic candidates and incumbents in what will be a bruising mid-term election in 2018, with much at stake for the Democratic Party desperate to put a dent in the GOPs number. This is their only hope to check Trump and the GOPs drive to roll back the 20th century.
The real answer to what happened to Clinton in 2016 wont be found in her book. Youd have to go back more than a decade, when the GOP took dead aim at then Senator Clinton as a potential presidential contender.....

“Others are corrupt, others are charmless, others are cold fish, but she brings all 3 to bear in an unbearable melange of Yuck.”
A succinct/accurate description of the Hillary dilemma.
Hillary is just one half of a team. The other half made it to the top. That should never have happened. Hillary lacked “charm” and accomplishments and... heck, she lacked everything. America almost made the same mistake twice with the Clintons.
“I waited 20 years to vote against the b#tch.”
Second that. I remember when her and Slick Willy were on 60 minutes and said when you vote for him you get her too as if that was something good. I took it is a warning. I decided when the time came l would crawl naked through glass in hail storm if need be to vote against her.
The dumb ass conveniently leaves out 2008 when the Dems denied her the nomination and handed it to a novice Senator. It's a bigger humiliation when your family stabs you in the back.
“...of her devastating loss to Trump...”
*BUMPITY-BUMP-BUMP-BUMP*
If you have NOTHING left in your life to thank G-d for EACH AND EVERY MORNING when you wake up - REMEMBER THIS! For the REST of your LIFE! :)
Get serious. The media was Hillary's lap dog, lifting its belly to her so she could stroke it.
Hillary's failure was a political failure, not just a personal failure. She was selling the same old socialist crap sandwich while Trump was offering red meat on the grill. The American people chose wisely in sufficient numbers that the Democrat election fraud couldn't turn back the tide.
She surrounds herself with the type of weak people whose reactions to the world at large are driven by fear. People are afraid of her power and her temper - her visciousness. She's a predator. No one has ever just flat out taken her outside and beaten her badly. That's what she needs
The reality is, Hillary didn’t lose the election, Trump
Won it... And that’s the thing that really lows the globalist/elitist a
Minds.... She actually out performed where I thought she would do, and Trump just crushed her.
Had the access Hollywood tape not been turned into the nonsense it was, Trump would have gotten at least 1-2million more votes and taken 5 or more states he didn’t.
Yes Hillary is a piss poor retail politician, and she made some tactical mistakes, but the reality is, she did better than she honestly should have... But Trump just did better.
Dems painted themselves into a corner for over 2 decades, the first warning sign they should have realized was Gore losing in 2000... In spite of all the focus on Florida Gore really lost because West Virginia flipped and since has been solid Republican.
That should have been enough to make Dems understand tbeir identity politics were alienating their largest voting bloc, working class/blue collar whites.... But it didn’t... They ignored it... And kept on the same path.
Obama won via a combination of being black, and anger at republicans over Iraq/Afghanistan... With much more of it being the latter than the former... Regardless of the narrative you have been told... Had Republican put up a better candidate Obama would have been a single termer. Once he was gone, that was it for the democrats... The 20+ years of alienating the working class white relegated them to urban and coastal enclaves with no shot at winning a nations election provided the Republicans would go nationalist.. Argue against the open borders of George Soros and his minions and the “free” trade chroneyism they were pushing. Sadly none would because they were all on thr take from folks who wanted this crap... So Trump marched right into the White House.
Hillary only underperformed Obama 2012 by about 100k votes. She did far better in vote totals than I expected.. Over performing him in states that were locks for her party... But not keeping pace with him in places she needed. She should have been well under that overall in all honesty. Trump outperformed Romney by 2 Million votes, and did it mostly in the right states.
Trump didn’t waste time and energy upping vote totals in states he knew were lost, even for show. Could he have spent millions to get better vote totals I CA,NY,MA? Sure, and if he had he would have gotten better vote totals there but still lost the states..
He put himself as winning right up the upper midwest from the get go, playing right to former democrats who had watched their party not only abandon them but fight for things and beliefs they find morally repugnant.
Hillary didn’t underperform Barry Sorento 2012 by much in the states Trump flipped, but Trump grossly over performed Romney... And took Hillary down hard.
That’s why the left is so insane, Trump won, far more than Hillary “lost”.. That wasn’t supposed to be possible.
The witch finally confronted an alpha male and he beat her and humiliated her - which she completely deserved.
It probably would have been good for her if someone had done what you said a long time ago...taken her outside and beaten her up. She would have learned that treating people the way she does has bad results.
I do believe Hillary could take out my ex-mother in law...the most diabolical person I’ve ever known.
I swear she would have literally eaten her own kids and not regretted it.
She is a criminal. No ifs, ands or buts about it. She should be doing hard time for her 40 year crime spree.
She is a communist who adored Alinsky. She hates the US as much as Obama. She wants nothing but to steal as much wealth from the Republic as possible.
She hates the Constitution and would have completely shredded the little bit of it left post-Obama.
She’s evil as the day is long. Other than that...
I felt immense pleasure when not voting for Hillary.
Voting for Trump was wonderful.
This writer is pathetically mentally ill.
Ha - can’t say it better than that...
No mention of her being a criminal in the Clinton Crime Family. Interesting.
Her lying criminal unlikeable character is why she lost. The public was fooled once by obummer; they didn’t want a repeat of that.
“Voting for Trump was wonderful.”
The best one of my life.
