Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore says Americans still support President Trump despite issues with his administration because Democrats haven’t offered them an alternative.
Speaking on "Morning Joe" on Monday, Moore slammed Democrats for not “running the right people” in local elections and the upcoming 2018 midterms.
“The Democrats have yet to offer what the alternative is,” Moore said. “Like, ‘we’re going to take the House back’ — and really? Where are all of those great candidates for next year?”
The filmmaker, whose one-man show about Trump is in previews on Broadway, said that the U.S. is in line with the liberal values promoted by Democrats because the party has won the popular vote during six of the past seven presidential elections, but that they’re having trouble running candidates who can share those values. He added that Democrats need to stop running to attract moderate voters but instead focus on liberal issues that earn them votes, saying it “comes down to running the right people.”
“Find the beloved American in your district and run that person that can win,” Moore said. “We need to start running people who can win and who are beloved by the American people and who understand how to talk to the American people.”
Moore has been an outspoken critic of Trump, warning Democrats in 2016 that he would win the election. In addition to his one-man anti-Trump show, he is also producing an anti-Trump documentary called "Fahrenheit 11/9," referencing the day after Trump was elected.

This notion that there is a political "center" or moderate voters, is simply a ruse to get Republicans to water down their beliefs so their base will stay home and the Dems win by default.
Dems DO have alternatives. It’s just that actually talking about them is death at the polling place.

The traditional Democrat voters who went for Trump may still be "liberal" in their support for various social welfare programs, but they were repelled by the social and cultural radicalism of the Democrats.
The Democrats used to treat working and lower middle class whites as their core base of support, rightly or wrongly, on economic issues. Now they're basically declared that working and middle class whites are "deplorables" who are oppressing racial minorities and homosexuals. Democrats thought they could win the election by being the party of illegal immigration, BlackLivesMatter riots and looting, Muslim refugees, and transgender bathrooms. In doing so, they've lost their traditional base of support, hopefully permanently. The few Democrats who would dare point this out (Jim Webb, etc) don't get any traction in the party.
