Criticism of Hillary Clinton over documents posted by WikiLeaks played a key role in her failed US presidential campaign and successful election of Donald Trump, a study of viral tweets has found. Twitter posts during the final two months of the 2016 election race shows that Ms Clinton was heavily criticised on social media compared to her rival Donald Trump.
Posts relating to WikiLeaks were the most common form of attack on social media for the Democratic candidate, who was also heavily criticised on Twitter over an FBI investigation into her use of a private email server, researchers said.
Researchers from the University of Edinburgh in the UK used computer analysis to study the top viral tweets each day between September 1 and November 8 last year. They found that there were three times as many posts attacking Ms Clinton than posts that were in her favour.
By contrast, viral tweets relating to Mr Trump were split equally in favour of and against his campaign.
Posts from Donald Trumps social media campaign and his supporters had a more positive tone than that of his rival, with effective reach for slogans, policy promises and campaigning for swing states.
Tweets backing Ms Clinton tended to compare her with her rival, and to attack Mr Trump rather than praise Ms Clinton.
Mr Trump was criticised for his performance in election debates more than his links to scandals such as the Access Hollywood tape.
Donald Trump supporters were more likely to share news reports from less credible sources, the study found.
In all researchers analysed almost 3,500 posts, which together were retweeted more than 25 million times.
Tweets were labelled as being favourable to Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, or neither. They used data from TweetElect.com, which collates the most retweeted posts related to the US election.
Before Wikipedia colluded to defeat Hillary Clinton, the World Book encyclopedia company and Dunn & Bradstreet defeated horrible people running for office.
3,500 tweets determined this election, where the Democrat party heavily outspent Trump, especially in the early going...
WikiLeaks releases emails from the Clinton campaign and Podesta, most of them not flattering to the candidate, and even to this day, no one from either camp has disclaimed responsibility and ownership of those emails. Even as they're busy shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly, the thrust of their concerns is not about the emails themselves and their explosive content, it's about who leaked them! This is not indicative of people with normal thought processes...
This “study” seems to have a lot of gaps in it, and frankly, I have a lot of trouble wrapping my head around it...
And again, if this study has a point, what is it? Hillary was the worst and weakest candidate the Dems have put up in decades, and not only that, she's doing stuff like passing out (caught by a surreptitious camera), and then denying it, while demanding to know who took that film!
On the other hand, the Republican candidate went through 17 opponents with amazing efficiency, and then dispatched the heavily favored Democrat opponent with similar ease.
Even if we give Hillary the benefit of the doubt on the popular vote thing, that edge came from California, after the election was decided.
For these people (I see this is from India, of all places!), it's never gonna be over because they lost.
And from these reprobates, that can never be accepted.
CA....
I have never seen such an effort to make someone the prom queen long after the party was over?
So Seth Rich sacrificed his life for his country by getting the info to Assange. God works in mysterious ways.
“WikiLeaks Helped Donald Trump Win US Presidential Elections”
I call BS on this “Study!”
Hitlery the venomous harridan lost because she is a venomous harridan!
If WikiLeaks played a key role in Trump being elected, it would be because they did the work the American press refused to do then and still refuses to do now.
Not that I blame the American investigative press, wherever they are, not really, given how being added to the ever growing Clinton Death list is always a likely possibility for anyone doing actual investigative reporting these days.
And, with no truth allowed nor wanted, with obvious references and accepted standards being abandoned and historical definitions being rewritten and then rewritten again, I saw no way out for the good ol' USA. We had been given over.
The malware had won. The system was totally phocked up and locked up. We had become progressively trapped by and finally trapped in our political soap opera.
And then, "unexpectedly", along came Donald J. Trump!
Not long ago, America had become trapped in a similar way. The system had become locked up and we, the people, were being progressively locked out. We were in desperate need of a reset.
And then, along came Ronald Reagan!
I hope we do better with Trump's reset than we did with Reagan's.
I really do believe that Hillary is responsible for Donald trump being president. her friends in the media decided during the primaries at her direction to give Donald Trump as much air time as possible in the mistaken belief that Donald trump would be a disaster for the republican party.
She did the same thing in 2008 with McCain while she was running against Obama. Hillary believed that she could destroy trump because of him not having political experience and because he is sometimes to quick on giving his opinion.
I myself was not a fan till he got elected ( I did vote for him) and started living up to his promises. I thank god that Hillary decided she wanted to run against trump because he is turning out to be a foundational president whos influence will be talked about like Reagan and Roosevelt.
WikiLeaks Helped Donald Trump Win US Presidential Elections: Study
Correction: Hillary’s poor judgment, bad decision making and criminal tendencies helped Donald Trump win the election. Wikileaks has nothing to post if she doesn’t do all that.
Typical fake news. Wikileaks had very little impact on normal voters. It was just too abstract for them to grasp it and the media’s slanted reporting blunted it’s impact.

There are many terrible reasons for President Trumps victory, but there are two things that were not a factor. First, Hillary was the perfect candidate; nothing she did harmed her candidacy in any way. Second, President Trump was the worst candidate imaginable; nothing he did helped his candidacy at all, except with racists, sexists, bigots, and the rest of the basket of deplorables.
Excellent synopsis
Hillary and her folks had no believable defense - that was obvious and it hurt her....
This is more Fake News.
Here’s the Wikileaks scandal in a nutshell: The leaks simply exposed what a piece of zhit Hillary Clinton and her people were in a way that couldn’t be spun or ignored by the Media, period, end of story.
No more Bush! No more Clinton!
That was the universal theme on the internet long before Wikileaks or Trump appeared.
Jeb and Hillary each had an up hill climb to overcome that negative. Neither one succeeded.
Wikileaks just confirmed, again, what everyone already knew about Hillary. It didn’t change anyone’s mind.
The way Hillary conducted her campaign also did not change anyone’s mind. Consider: If Axelrod had run Hillary’s campaign rather than Podesta and if Hillary had listened to Axelrod’s advice, it is possible Hillary could have re-invented herself.
Compare I’m with her, Hillary’s slogan of self-important arrogance, with Trump’s MAGA. That slogan alone doomed Hillary from changing her image.
Trump also had high negatives. The difference between Hillary and Trump is that Trump and his team were smarter than Hillary and her team.
agreed
So . . . what about the value of a Mainstream Media completely in the tank for Hillary. MSM, OK; Wikileaks, a felonious outrage.
This garbage makes me puke buckshot.
