ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Hillary Clinton says she hopes the free college tuition plan approved by New York state lawmakers last week will lead other states to follow suit.

What do Jane & Joe Sixpack of college age get, other than the Privilege of paying for college kids tuition, while they work their lowly jobs?
That’s amazing. The professors profess for free. The administrators administrate for free. The janitors janit for free. That is so cool. I guess the electrical supplier doesn’t charge for electricity either?
“Free tuition”? No. Try “taxpayer-funded pay-offs to loyal Progressive Democrats in academia”.
I believe she is mother to Hubbell’s daughter, daughter being groomed to be next in clintoon dynasty
Fortunately New York State will be running budget surplus forever. Ignore all rumors about rich baby boomers retiring and moving to warmer climes. Ignore all rumors about wealthy folks leaving the state for lower tax regions or countries.
Isn’t it fun being a Democratic “expert” like Hillary?
Just count your fingers and toes and then throw up your hands and say you don’t know anything about numbers larger than that!
This venture will cost billions and billions to continue and will fail very soon after it achieves maximum enrollment .
Isn't the 10th Amendment great?
Ironic - Kalifornia drew a lot of freeloaders by starting “free” tuition way back when and went down hill on a 50+ year slide. I guess NY thinks it needs to accelerate the downhill slide if it wants to ‘keep up”.
I like to be in Americaaa
Everything free in Americaaa
A couple of comments on this.
The SUNY system use to be very cheap or no tution for NY State residents. CUNY, the NYC college system was free until the 1970s financial crises. I don’t remember the details of the SUNY but there was a cost by 1979 when I was applying for college, but NYS also offered tuition assistance equal to your Pell grant. Although I applied to a SUNY school I went to a private U. where the Pell and NYS grants of $3,600 cover over half the cost. There were no strings attached to either program.
As to to this plan, it is not free on the front end or the back end. Taxpayers pick up the cost of this.
You have to work and pay taxes in NY for the same time frame you are taking money for or you have to pay it back. So if you are looking at a career that will take you out of NY, this program becomes a loan.
Unless this is managed like standard loan programs, I suspect NYS will see little repayment from people who leave NYS.
It nice to your free tution, but this is anything but.
...then they would be conservatives, assuming they survived their heads exploding from such realization.
Great.... Now my college degree is worth even less.
And I’m sure it’s worth every penny.
