Just hours after their running mates finished their debate, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are charting distinct paths to the upcoming presidential debate Sunday in St. Louis.
The stakes are a little different for each of them, too.
For Clinton, the second debate is an opportunity to sustain the momentum she's drawn from the first. Polls this week showed the former secretary of state with leads nationally and in key swing states.
For Trump, Sunday's debate will be a mulligan of sorts. Clinton was widely seen as the winner of the first debate, and Trump has been at the center of controversy ever since.
Here's how each candidate is preparing for round two as of Wednesday.
Clinton off the trail
The Democratic nominee is off the campaign trail ahead of Sunday's debate, leaving media appearances and public rallies to her deep bench of high-profile surrogates, including her immediate family, the first family and Al Gore. Clinton does, however, have fundraisers slated for Wednesday and Thursday, including one that will be open to cameras.
Advisers say the reason behind the decision is simple: the debate carries far greater importance than a standard campaign event. The first debate was viewed by more than 80 million, far more than the audience for any rally....

Plus I’m wondering how many times they can juice her up with the drug cocktail before it kills her.
From CNN. So a bunch of BS in the article.
Actually, Trump is off the trail also as of this afternoon. So I’m guessing he will be prepping himself.
So I should only post from WorldNetDaily, Breitbart, Rush and Gateway Pundit?
Totally fabricated nonsense.
For Trump, Sunday's debate will be a mulligan of sorts.
They wish that were the truth.
Clinton was widely seen as the winner of the first debate,
Perhaps in the press corps. She didn't wack out in any form or fashion, so they view that as a win for Hillary.
and Trump has been at the center of controversy ever since.
Again, manufactured controversy trumped up by the press, that absolutely no one takes seriously, except for her diehard supporters, which of course includes the press.
I think that this debate is a big opportunity for Trump. Expectations will be even lower for him than last time and he has the opportunity to really shine. Let’s all remember to pray for him.
It's more like why aren't you posting from Hillary's campaign website directly?
“For Clinton, the second debate is an opportunity to sustain the momentum she’s drawn from the first. Polls this week showed the former secretary of state with leads nationally and in key swing states.”
Uh, yeah. right. momentum. sure. polls up for Hillary due to debate. uh, huh.
When you become the owner of this website I will follow your instructions to the letter. Let me know when that happens.
I was only commenting that I thought the article contained a very slanted view and BS which is typical of CNN. Continue to post.
Campaign Trail - HIGH pay-off, trust American people
Debate - LOW pay-off, trust networks
Gosh I wonder WHICH is the better deal, eh..?
Logically then, you're blaming JimRob for your posting selections, since he's the owner of the website you are presumably following to the letter.
Either that, or you can't figure out why Freepers aren't interested in pro-Hillary screeds.
What a mystery.
Imagine the joy we’ll all have on Election Night when the MSM sees one battleground state after another falling for Trump, and they all have that WTF puzzled looks on their faces as they have to announce the loss of their beloved St. Hillary. I do hope one of these people weeps on TV and asks, “What’s wrong with this country?” What a glorious night it will be. The Clintons going down in flames and the media having to report their demise. Can’t wait!
BIll Clinton blathered on about a million different bits of gobbledygook but ONE time he told the truth was, “Crazy is where you keep doing the same thing, expecting a different result....”
After Crowley and Lester’s examples, WHY ON EARTH should Trump go and trust US broadcast networks AGAIN...?
This doesn’t compute for me.
The debates in recent years are unwatchable to me. The moderators are bias but also terrible. The questioning is inane and the rule are lame and not enforced on the dems.
I can’t help it if Jim is smarter than you.
Good question. I guess we’ll know soon enough.
Guys, please don’t fight about this. Let’s concentrate on the big thing.
Make a note: "Controversy" (also "controversial") doesn't mean what you think it should mean. In media Newspeak, it's code for "This is Emmanuel Goldstein -- WE HATE!"
