Back in the summer of 2015, when Donald Trump rode down the escalator in Trump Tower, the debate was not about whether he would win the Republican nomination, much less the presidency. It was about whether he would even file his papers. He did.
The debate quickly coalesced around how many weeks he would last. Weeks turned into months, as he quickly took the lead in the polls. The debate then shifted to how soon he would become this cycles Herman Cain, who led in the polls briefly in 2011 before collapsing, followed by confident predictions about why his insensitive comments about Megyn Kelly, John McCain and a variety of minority groups would lead to his downfall. At the end of 2015, he had led in the polls for months. In December, I gave him a 25 percent chance of becoming the nominee, and remember questioning whether I really wanted to be that far out of step with the overall punditrys view of his candidacy.
As we moved into the primary season, we debated just how low the ceiling on his poll numbers would be, why he would begin to lose as candidates dropped out, why his continued losses in debates (in the eyes of pundits) would tank his chances of winning, why his followers wouldnt show up to vote, how various states wouldnt prove to be well-suited for him, and so forth. I know. I made some of these arguments myself. Yet he managed to outlast 16 other candidates and clinched the Republican nomination in May....

We tend to hear a lot from the deflicted denizens of the Beltway, and East and West coasts. This disproportionate percentage of opinions we hear from those within the Gummint/Misledia Machine tends to slant our assessment of our bretheren nationwide, and does so in a way that doesn't really reflect their views.
Look at the meteoric rise of both (each in their turn) The TEA Party, and the Trump Train. Neither of these could or would have happened had the vast majority of Americans been disavowed of the priciples we FReepers hold dear.
The picture is, in fact, alot brighter than it at first blush might appear... help is on the way and the once-silent majority is now ready and willing to cheer it in. You'll see.
“Excellent example of how GOPe loses to DEMe.”

Sadly it is. McCain thought, and no doubt still thinks that, being a Senator, means that Obama is in HIS CLUB, far superior than the masses that he actually needs votes from. Contrast how he defends Obama here to how he NEVER DEFENDED Palin...since Palin wasn’t part of that club - she was only his running mate.
And by the way, if I were running against McCain in the Primary, I’d make sure that EVERY VOTER got to see this clip 25 times before voting.
That doesn’t worry me at all. The entire country is in an advanced stage of Hillary-fatigue. We are tired of seeing her pantsuits, listening to her screech, and having the media tell us how wonderful she is because we instinctively know she is untrustworthy and unlikeable. More exposure is her worst nightmare.
The real thing that has me worried is what the heck is going on at Fox?????? Obviously the whole thing was a power struggle and coup, and had nothing to do with Ailes’ supposed sexual harassment.
I don’t want to find out that Fox has become part of the DNC apparatus.
Fox Business is a new discovery for me...Try it...They are covering the protests.
I’ve been for Trump from the beginning. :-)
Thanks. That was a great summary.
You’re welcome! It’s always fun getting this out of my system.
I HOPE SO.
Interesting post. Krauthammer instantly recognized the trap that Trump laid for Hillary in his brief statement - and that her campaign marched right into it. Donald Trump has been living inside Hillary’s OODA loop for weeks, and nobody knows how to fight him.
