After attending a fundraiser for John McCain’s Senate re-election — a campaign in which McCain is locked in a tight race with conservative primary challenger Kelli Ward — Kristol mused on Twitter if McCain would run as an independent candidate in the presidential election.
But while Kristol was just speculating, McCain added intrigue to the Stop Trump movement with his surprise announcement that the delegates should be free to vote their conscience at the upcoming Republican Convention

I suspect that fewer than a quarter of the AZ electorate has ever heard of Kelli Ward.
The only he got as many as he did in 2008 was because Sara Palin was on the ticket.
The only reason I voted for that self entitled cry baby piece of sh!t was because I was hoping he would have a stroke and die 4 months after he was sworn in, Palin could take over and be a REAL CONSERVATIVE president.

That is a false narrative. The population is larger by leaps and bounds since Reagan and many rules such as cross voting primaries are very changed... Trump did not secure 50% or greater of the vote. That means over 50% did not vote for him... You cannot say that of Reagan

Cruz may have told Trump that but I can imagine that Cruz will get to that podium and do the opposite, try to totally blow up Trump’s campaign. I can’t believe how risky this is for Trump. Cruz can’t be trusted.
He can’t deal with the fact that Donald Trump is actually NOT a racist and NOT anti-gay. Too much for him to handle. :)
Kristol is more of a vanilla
McCain run as an independent for President? Not a chance. That guy barely ,ade the effort to stumble as the GOPe nominee last time.
He fights hardest for the cushiest gig in politics: US Senator.
I didn’t see those videos until relatively recently, last fall sometime. And once you start digging and putting 2 and 2 together, his plasticity is not hard to see.
He’d better hope he gets some position in a Trump administration. I know many Texans will never cast another vote for him.
I’m sure he can always go to work for Goldman Sachs.
