The fight over rules that could upend the Republican National Convention officially began in earnest Thursday, as delegates began circulating the first proposed rule for this year's convention in Cleveland.
A draft rule, obtained by MSNBC, would effectively lock-in Donald Trump as the GOP nominee and kill the "Stop Trump" movement once and for all.

The RNC convention will be the most watched convention in History. Of course the Obama/Hillary media will focus on outside protesters, they will have to cover the speeches and votes.
America will see Trump at his best, it’s going to make the previous conventions look boring, with the exception of some previously made speeches from Palin, and one of my favorites, Pat Buchanan.
On the other hand, the DNC will be scripted and boring, Trump will gain energetic supporters and Hillary will look like the queen of England, old, gray, tired, worthless.
The Republicans have lied to me and I believed them going all the way back to 2010 when they said,”Elect me and I will repeal obamacare.” Now, I do not believe anything they say.
At his convention, ROMNEY removed Paul delegates from the floor.
It’s more tasteful to simply bar the recalcitrant delegates from even attending.
This is TRUMP’s CONVENTION and not a butt hurt therapy session.. It should be fun and inspiring.
RIght! Just like muslims when there is no one else for them to fight they turn on each other!
I agree, but it is leaving a bad taste in the mouths of these organizers that are caught between the RNC and Paul Ryan.
Not that I really care, I just wanted everyone to know that Trump is working the phones very aggressively behind the scenes.
Mr. You has it right.
There was a thread here on FR last week that mentioned the rules committee being stacked with Trump supporters.
So Mr. Trump should be safe from these #NeverTrump idiots.
Since rule changes have to be approved by the convention as a whole, Trump was always safe from the Kristol crowd.
Not only is the Trump campaign reminding the DC leaders that Trump has the delegate votes, even a lot of repeat delegate party regulars that aren’t great Trump fans are issuing stern warnings to the DC leadership about jeopardizing local party support. It’s over, and has been for quite awhile.
Trump is right to shame them publicly for not honoring their written word. If they won't even support their own party's nominee, what won't they lie and deceive about in their jobs representing us?
Some of my email friends grumble about Trump being too rough around the edges and not "presidential" enough for the job. First, I asked them, "You mean 'presidential' like all the other presidential acting and sounding, ineffectual losers we've had in the White House the last couple of decades? That kind of 'presidential'?"
Next, I tell them that right now this country doesn't need a liberal or a conservative or a moderate. Right now, what we need is what my basketball coach used to call a "hatchet man". I played that role more than a few times. "Get in there and throw some elbows and knock some heads. You'll get some fouls called on you but you'll take a couple of guys from the other team out with you.
This country needs a hatchet man this time around. Someone to clean house in DC and clear the decks for a new start. Someone who will swing for the fences and hit some home runs but strike out a few times too. It comes with the territory. Take risks. Fall hard. But then get right back up and do it again, better.
Trump's our hatchet man. He needs to be a little rough around the edges to do what he's got to do to clean up this mess we've gotten ourselves into.
That’s exactly what Gingrich said in a recent interview. He said that when Trump gets in office he needs to clean house in all the departments. He needs to go on a firing spree. His son Eric talked about this too. He said when his dad gets in office, people will be shocked at how quickly he will create change in the departments.
The politicians have been accustomed to lying for so long and on such a grand scale that they simply do not know what else to do. They are stuck on stupid.
With the instant communications we now have, the lies become obvious immediately but they do not know what else to do. They just keep lying and no one believes them.
It is really something to behold. It is as if they are saying that they know they are lying, that they know we know they are lying, but they simply do not care and are asking everyone to believe nobody knows they are lying.
I wish Trump would weave into his speeches the idea that Americans have been lied to for so long how can anyone believe what Obama and Clinton are saying? Obamacare was one string or lies after another. Clinton is a pathological liar. They know only one thing and that is lying. Benghazi is a pile of lies. Nothing is truth.
Whatever they say is lies for the sake of appearances.
I think they have gone off the cliff and is at the point of no return and the majority of people simply do not believe what Obama-Clinton are saying.
By October Trump will look as if he is running unopposed and his candidacy will be characterized as a landslide in the making.
Good.
Changing the rules after the primaries but before the convention reeks of unfairness and sour grapes.
Any new changes should NOT go into effect until AFTER the Convention.

I would not have expected this kind of corruption from the Republicans who always claim to take the high road. Apparently, in the inner workings they are as bad, if not worse, than the Dems.
Of course, elections are about power and positioning and money. Power corrupts.
According to the linked article, if 25% of the rules committee support a change, then it has to be presented to the full convention.
If less 25% of the rules committee support a change, it is dropped.
The article also says that no nominee has ever been stopped via rules committee changes.
The renegades want to make their own rules — because they could not win in the primaries.
Will need to divert the Potomac through the Department of State. It’s a Herculean task that awaits Trump to clear the corruption.
What happened?"
Please remember, Trump is still not the official nominee, until the convention vote.
A lot of you aren't old enough to remember some of the conventions from years past. But last minute pushing is quite normal. Accordingly, this is the period where the other candidates typically negotiate for positions or personnel, so they can "throw" their support behind Trump. A lot of bluffing and negotiations are occurring now. Otherwise there would be no need for a convention.
Thank goodness for the mute button and sub-titles when Palin speaks.
Good point.
No surprise...they lied. These bums have zero integrity.
